Chase , atom , Shawbrook all easy to open with 1.5 , 1.35 , 1.75 rates. I opened a Shawbrook yesterday and just had to forward basic details on along with my HSBC details for withdrawals.
Shawbrook min £1000 though and min £500 withdrawal.
chase works for me really well on my iPhone .
With shawbrook you can put in less than £1000

its just you only get 1.75% once you deposit a minimum of £1000
  • Yes correct £1000 to get higher rate , thanks ranciduk

Went with Al Ryan at 1.8% for first pot of savings.
September pot will go into Shawbrook at 1.75%.
Until at least December, hoping for 4-5% for a 5 year fixed.
Don’t mind a short term loss, as I believe rates will keep rising.

I've had a Shawbrook account for years but I'm not jumping in at 1.75 % when the majority of providers haven't even reacted yet.

I'm going to see where we are end of August. Give zopa and chase a chance to up their rates.

The Shawbrook Bank 1.75% account can take 2-4 days to register a deposit. There is nothing remotely "easy" about it.
  • 3 hours for my first £1k deposit on Friday with Shawbrook so not too bad.

3hrs on a weekday, and 2-4 days on a weekend or Bank Holiday, is absolutely glacial, in this day and age. Many banks now take less than 60 seconds.
  • Yeah I agree with you there Millyonare , my chase a/c transfers immediately 7 days a week. I just wish Chase would up their rates to be more competitive .

Atom is instant too. That is is why you spread your savings around leaving some savings in accounts that transfer money instantly
