That's why I went for annual originally, but didn't think about the tax implications!
Good news though - they replied today to say they've switched the account to monthly. Surprisingly easy - quite impressed!
Edit: And now all 8 transactions over the weekend and this morning are deposited in my account. Not too shabby.

If i opened a Shawbrook account, put in the max £85k and asked for monthly interest are you allowed a balance over £85k? Or would the interest need to be paid into another account?
I have seen the maximum balance allowed is £85k?

That's really good of them.  Never hurts to ask, as they say. Could be a lot of people surprised at getting caught for tax next April with the higher rates.  Ironic that, in real terms, savers will be much worse off than they were with those old 0.05% rates.

    Zopa now showing in app  1.81% / 7 notice 1.85% / 31 day notice 1.95% / 95 day notice 2.05%
That's good news I was wondering if they would respond though for me I question if the 95 day is worth it now. For the small difference in interest why not have the increased flexibility of just the 31day pot, especially with further rises and movement expected over the next few months.

I know Zopa would continue to pay you interest over the max balance, but I can't see any similar statement in the Shawbrook terms... if you have an account and nobody else has the answer, you could send them a secure message, or if not, give them a ring.

Busy handling transfers away, I'd guess.  It's a bare-bones offer, so their customers will expect a decent rate.

  • Chase and atom to jump above the rest would be music to my ears !
