Can anyone explain this better interest rate on my old Internet Savings for a far smaller balance (eg £1000)?  As it's Sunday, YBS aren't open today to ask tthem.
What are you wanting them to explain??

Most, if not all, of YBS variable rates have increased a couple of times recently and (like many other institutions) many of the interest rates for closed accounts exceed the rates offered to new customers. This is nothing new and its been regularly mentioned on here people having closed accounts paying far better rates than being offered at the time, for example over the last couple of years whilst rates plummeted may institutions such as Tesco and Al Rayan had easy access accounts paying holders rates far exceeding what was on offer at the time to new customers.

I presume you didn't have any / much money in the Internet saver if weren't even aware of the interest rate therefore that will by why you weren't informed of interest rate changes. If you look at the T&C on most accounts you have to have a certain credit balance (often £100+) in order to qualify for personal notification otherwise rate increases will be shown in branches and online. YBS clearly show on their website rates for closed accounts so have met their obligation.

You could get a very cheap second-hand phone able to run the Chase app. The account pays 0.4% more than the next-best account. If you were saving the maximum £250,000, that's £83 more per month than the next best account. That's more than enough in one month to pay for a phone able to run the app.
I would hesitate to deposit more than the FSCS limit of £85,000.

you need the app to open & manage the account.... if you have other savings accounts with Zopa, you can see them too; but when using the site, you cannot see the Smart Saver account... so app only for the Smart Saver.

You have been provided with a link confirming the Chip rate, why is it still not included and just at the bottom with a rather rude sounding "allegedly"?

" - not meant to be comprehensive, I don't have time to dig down into the detail on all 10 so check terms." "DYOR"

You (IIRC) provided a link to someone saying there's a chip account paying 0.9%. No link to the account, terms etc.

'Allegedly' isn't a rude word, but as it causes you offence I'll remove it and the reference to Chip.

Not having much luck getting the top rates. Phone isn't compatible with Chase so I thought I'd go for one of the next best which is Tandem, signed up went to link my account and it appears it doesn't link to Virgin Money, so that's that one gone too. Zopa isn't of great use because of the 15k limit so I guess it's Marcus or Cynergy. To be honest I think I will end up just getting a different phone so I can sign up with Chase.

As things progress - technology moves on - you'll likely have to upgrade eventually anyway - make sure you try and future proof yourself as much as you can, rather than just buying a phone that barely passes what's needed today, and you end up back at square one tomorrow.

I signed up for Chip but got cold feet when they asked for my debit card details. Not really read the terms and conditions but they are not getting my debit card details.
Chip keep contacting but I am just ignoring

Cynergy Bank has added a new issue of the Online Easy Access account with 1.1% interest. Time for the weekly/fortnightly fasttrack apply and transfer and close (if you haven't already left the boat entirely for Chase 1.5%)

Their public page hasn't yet updated, but the fasttrack apply has the new rate.
My Cynergy online banking is starting to look like Virgin money with a graveyard of closed accounts with a £0.00 balance…..
MDMD we also both have a list of Cynergy accounts we've opened and closed but when they continue to increase % rates then we will continue to open/close accounts; thank goodness its so easy to open/transfer/close  accounts
