I'll update the forum when it arrives, so other people will have an idea how long it takes.

Section62, has your security token arrived yet? I was told it'd take around 3 to 5 days, but I've had nothing yet.

Not yet, no. Hopefully today though, as I want to make sure I can get money out before taking advantage of the new higher interest rate.

My security token arrived today, requested it last thursday i think.
Easy to activate

Virgin/YB/CB security 'token'

Not in today's post.

I requested it on Wednesday 23rd Feb, so if it arrived tomorrow that would be a full week.

I requested one the same day. Disappointing that not arrived yet.

Section62; Virgin Security Token arrived today.

Mine too.

Interesting it looks identical to the old one, and both the token and letter still have CB/YB branding.

Edit: Activating using the old token doesn't work, in case anyone wonders. It appears getting a new token is the only alternative to using the app.

Just noticed that the Yorkshire BS's 'Internet Saver Plus Issue 10' easy access account is now paying...

0.60% on £1+
0.77% on £10k+
0.82% on £50k+

Online account management, £1 minimum balance, annual interest and unlimited withdrawals. Note that you can't make withdrawals within the first 14 days, so open with £1 and don't make further deposits if that could be an issue.
Or, depending on tax status you could get those identical rates by putting it into an easy access cash ISA

https://www.ybs.co.uk/savings/product.html?id=YB691501W
£20k max into an ISA per tax year
Obviously, as that’s the max amount for new money each year, but you can transfer in from other ISAs any amount you like.

Just got an email - First Direct have increased their savings rate by ten-fold!

From 0.01% to 0.1%

You don't have to fo anything the new rate will be applied automatically.

Well that's alright then.

Cynergy Bank just increased theirs to 0.80%.
I would imagine many institutions will seriously be looking at their current rates to stay competitive with Virgin. Unfortunately 0.80% doesn't cut the mustard for me.

Hopefully their online Cash ISA to follow to match/beat YBS, before I take the plunge and switch to YBS.

If you mean one savings account with £25k - - why not up to FSCS limit?

I have the Cynergy, too, but only £100 and a bit in it to keep my status as a customer. I'd happily keep £84k and a a bit (to allow for interest) in VM, but would never dream of giving them more than the FSCS limit. Mind you, I would never dream to go over the FSCS limit with any group of banks or BS.
