But it's not wrong to say it if the account doesn't have an amount in excess of £5K in it. So it's a pertinent point to raise for those who this applies to.Malchester said:

I totally agree with you but the point was that that was not what was said - '0% on anything up to £5000''10_66 said:

What was said was that "Investec pay the same rate" (as an account paying that rate on just £1). That was missing relevant information for people with less to save. I don't understand why you're getting so aggressively ("And........???????") defensive just because someone enhanced your information to give the full picture.
£5k is non-trivial for many people. What if Investec paid that rate on minimum balances of £20k, £50k, £100k? When is it no longer worth an unqualified comparison with a savings account that can be operated with £1?1 -
I am amazed that you are now nitpicking, as it was you who was fairly easy going with not mentioning that no interest gets paid unless the balance was at least £5,000, and thereby potentially misleading people who for one reason or other would have less than £5k in their account.Malchester said:

Found Investdc great and extremely userHello folks, this chat is getting a bit confusing about the difference between the offerings of Investec and Cynergy. As I understand it, both are offering easy access savings at a variable rate of 0.71% with the difference being:- With Investec you get a variable rate of 0.71% provided you have at least £5000 invested- With Cynergy you get a variable rate of 0.71% for any amount invested but after a year it drops by 0.41%So for anyone with a balance of £4999.99 or less, Investec gives you 0% whereas for the first year Cynergy gives you a variable 0.71% on any amount of £1 or over.Am I getting that right?

Don't forget there's a minimum opening amount of £1000!cx6 said:Aldermore have re-instated their easy access account at 0.75%. Check conditions - 2 access allowed each year I believe.

Yes and if you have £5000 that you are quite happy to leave in an account to make sure you receive 0.71% you may as well put it in a fixed 1 year which have better rates. Cynergy keep bringing out new editions which are easy to open and you can transfer funds over so you never really get to the stage were the bonus endsMolehusband said:Daliah said:
