I would advise anyone taking out a new Lloyds or BOS vantage current account to tell a "WHITE LIE" that they intend to use for paying bills. After all you don't need to have a direct debit or standing order to pay bills. I pay our credit cards off in full each month and use the single payment option.

My experiences may not have been typical, but I only opened these accounts a month or so ago, so it was certainly possible recently to set up these accounts without hiding one's intentions. Perhaps they were so taken aback by my 'no messing about' approach, they'd opened the accounts before they knew what they were doing. ;)
As I say, though, this was pretty much my stance with six different people (one in-branch, and five over the phone), and none of them seemed to consider it a problem.
Opened all three BOS accounts within 3 consecutive days, all accounts showing in my Halifax Online Account within 24hrs, my wife did the same so all good to go :) Thanks

It looks as if you would have had to apply by 31 October 2012.
Thank you for reading this message.

The best ISA if you can lock away for 5 years is Leeds Building Society that pays 3% on its No Access 5 year ISA.

Did you actually read the dates you highlighted in your post above?

You're about 10 and half months too late

This was an offer on Lloyds TSB Vantage accounts last year. You had to apply for it, and, in addition to the monthly funding requirements, have 2 direct debits set up on your account before 31 October 2012 to qualify. Sadly the 4% rate expires 31 October 2013.

Save yourself the embarrassment - don't phone them :p

Of course, don't miss the wood for the trees. The 3% AER TSB Enhance account is still available for new applicants. At least at the moment.
Though I will hang on a bit with applying, in the hope that they will offer an incentive soon for opening one of their accounts.
