:o I do beg your pardon lady! evidently not, sorry! :wall:

Nationwide put me off - 1) 2500 limit 2) only for a year 3) minimum £1000 monthly deposit (I already have this requirement on my 1st direct current account which I opened almost a year ago +8% reg saver acc, happy with both - apart from not being able to get another 8% saver when this 1 matures!!)
Didn't know about other 2....rummages on forums

Why not take the 5% on £2.5K for 12 months? You won't get anything like this anywhere else. You'll also find that Nationwide allow you 4 of these, though the 5% is only guaranteed for 1. Some lucky devils here do get the 5% on all their accounts ;-)

As to the FD £1K a month: firstly, you don't need to make that deposit if you open one of their esavers and put £1 into it. Secondly, depositing £1K a month into more than one account isn't very hard to do in the age of Faster Payments (or use SOs) - - - for instance, I know people who cycle the same £1K through at least 9 current accounts every month.
  • Have got x3 nationwide flex direct and husband has x2. Interest is being paid on one of mine only and on both of my husband's. Is there anyone else on here only getting interest on the one guaranteed a/c pls?

Have you been meeting the monthly minimum deposit requirements from a non-Nationwide account on all of your accounts?

No - getting 5% interest on all 4 of mine :)
  • oh..boo! yes have met all the requirements. Will do things in a different order this month and see if it makes any difference. I assume there's no limit on how long it has to stay in there? Maybe i should leave it until the next day?

When did you and your husband open your accounts?

Did you ever get 5% on more than one account each?

You are definitely transferring £1k into each account from outside Nationwide aren't you?

Although several of us are getting 5% on multiple accounts, the T&C say its only guaranteed on one account. There was some speculation on here recently that Nationwide were tightening up, but nothing definitive IIRC. There is nothing in the T&C about how long the £1k stays in the account - mine is only there for a matter of minutes ;)
  • yes we have only recently opened them so hope we have not been tightened up on! Will be doing them all a day apart this month so there can be no mistake!

If one opens more than one Nationwide account, and they don't pay 5% interest on more than one, presumably you can simply close the second one?

Sure, you should be able to close any current account whenever you like, provided you are not overdrawn.

Currently we have 2 separate Santander 123 accounts in separate names. If we open a third in joint names can we transfer money from one account to another provider, and then into the joint account to get round the Non-Santander funding rule for the £500, or would they be smart to that?
