I applied to open a HiSavewith ICIC Bank. Question by email has taken 6 days to get a reply.

The 08081 31 4151 free phone number changes to an 0844 5p per minute in a few days time.

However, when I dial the 08081 number it just cuts off after going through the option numbers. Also numbers from 'Say No to 0870' website numbers also get cut off after going through the options.

I thought the 1.7% easy access with no hassle looked good but I'm not so sure now.

Anyone had any dealings with this bank ?

I used to save with them, but their interest rates became uncompetitive. I withdrew most of my money (bar a few quid just to keep the account open, in case their rates became worthwhile in the future).

During my time there I had no problems that I can recall, other than a lost password !

With an account you can e-mail them directly from the account, unless this has changed

BTW an 0844 number will cost you more than 5p per minute. There is also a 13p+ connection charge..
Thank you for reading this message.

I think there are 2 different kinds of Lloyds Vantage. One pays 4% up to £6K in you pay in £1K a month and have 2 DDs attached and the other pays 3% up to £5K. I have 4 of the 4% ones but none of the 3% ones. Hopefully as you say they wont close the account but just transfer the DDs in which case I can transfer them back. I dont have any Santander 123 accounts but was looking at them for the £32K I have to put somewhere else shortly.

Ah, see where you are coming from. But unfortunately you are wrong. The total number of Lloyds Vantages you can have is 3. Doesn't matter that you managed to get onto the 4% offer last year, and some others may only get 3%. You can have 3 in total, no more.

You can do the same at BoS, but for £32K it's laborious and, obviously, not enough because it only takes £15K in all. Next best choice 123s.

    I have 3 Lloyds Vantage paying 3%.

And another 3 Lloyds Vantage paying 4%.

I believe I could open more BoS Vantage.....

When did you open these accounts?

There's been a lot of discussion over the last year about this and nobody managed to open more than 3 since Lloyds started enforcing the limit.
  • Yes I have four of the 4% ones but when I rang up to open one of the 3% ones they told me I couldnt. Some people may have opened some in branch and them some more online. I have cancelled the Nationwide FlexDirect account. Couldnt risk them closing one of my Vantage accounts.
Made an appointment at Santander so will probably open one of their 123 accounts and transfer some of my DD which I can get some cashback on. Any thoughts?

They don't close your bank account when you switch your direct debits etc. I applied through Quidco and refused the standing order and direct debit switch and my new Nationwide Flex account was opened and linked to my existing Nationwide Flex account. In my quidco account it states that my transaction has been tracked and I will receive £70 cashback in August. Not really expecting as did not switch the DD and SO but you never know!

123 is good, but a FlexDirect for a year could be even better for £2.5K. I have all of them. Depends on how much you need to find a home for, and for how long.

Another person here having problems with ICICI Bank.
Walked successfully through the online HiSave application and got message advising I would get confirmation email in couple hours...nothing turned up (and yes, I check spam/junk folders).

Phoned their CustServ after 3 days only to be told that there was nothing he could check and to wait (at least I think that's what he said...English language skill were appalling).

Emailed CustServ after 5 days and no response... that was 3 days ago.
The rate might be attractive but their customer services a looking a bit pish....

Exactly the same except for no 'phone call to them - why should I?
Successful application a week ago and no confirmation e-mail. Sent them two further e-mails and not a peep from them.
I have had a savings account with them in the past, soon after they started their U.K. arm, and they weren't bad at all then.
Since opened and funded an account elsewhere because ICICI obviously don't want my money?!
    Pish - exactly.:)
