soulsaver, please show us one bad report about the 123 on this forum. Or any other forum.

The only "complaint" I can remember was from someone who hadn't known that they can simply upgrade from their existing Santander current account, thus retaining their account number and not having to move any DDs and SOs. He blamed Santander for not telling him - but ignored it was clearly stated on the website that you could upgrade.

Also, do you have a 123 yourself, can you actually speak from personal experience?

If you already have a Santander Premier currrent account and then apply for a 123 current account, do you reckon Santander will close the existing Premier account?

You will find that most of the poor reputation that Santander has is from a few years ago, when they did have customer service issues.

They have rapidly turned a corner now, and during the past 12-24 months have performed consistently well.

Remember that whilst poor service is still in peoples' memories, they will continue to 'vote' in line with this for some time. Which just goes to show how customer satisfaction surveys don't give an accurate view.

They are a good bank to be with - certainly above much of the competition.

Only if you ask them to.

That's good as I enjoy the free european travel insurance that comes with the Premier account and I wouldn't want to lose it by adding a 123 account!

You said 'never been a bad report'. Clearly there has. Somewhat arrogantly you asked if the poster knew what he was talking about.
    Clearly he did.
I like the 123 account, but I dont like Santanders customer service record, which may have improved, albeit the fact that a couple of others fell below them actually DOESN'T necessarily indicate that theirs improved.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to set up a standing order from a Tesco Internet Saver to a Santander 123 in order to automate the use of a 123 account?
Otherwise can one set up a negative direct debit?
Anyone managed to automate it in any other way?

Not sure what you mean by 'automating' a 123. Monthly deposit? 2 DDs?

The Tesco Internet Saver does not offer Standing Orders. These are normally domain of current accounts.

What is a "negative direct debit"?

I didn't see that he did because he listed no facts about any failures / shortcomings of the 123. So I will ask the same question again.

By 'automating' I mean that I don't have to manually make transfers into the 123 account for the £500 a month. In other words can I set up a self-sustaining circulation of money where I can leave it to its own devices.
A negative direct debit would be a direct debit for a negative number of pounds so, in effect, paying that number of pounds. Probably not possible.
