You need another current account for a Standing Order. Some people use the Halifax Reward for this purpose since it can pay £5 a month (needs £750 monthly deposit, and 2 DDs that pay monthly, to different organisations).
  • Another person here having problems with ICICI Bank.
Walked successfully through the online HiSave application and got message advising I would get confirmation email in couple hours...nothing turned up (and yes, I check spam/junk folders).

Phoned their CustServ after 3 days only to be told that there was nothing he could check and to wait (at least I think that's what he said...English language skill were appalling).

Emailed CustServ after 5 days and no response... that was 3 days ago.
The rate might be attractive but their customer services a looking a bit pish....

Thanks Innovate, we've got a HFX Reward account so that will do nicely.
    The 123 account conditions state...
    A4...

    c) have at least two Direct Debits set up on your

    account;

It doesn't mention different organisations. Anyway I'll use a couple of different Tesco accounts just to be sure.
    Thanks for the help.

You are right, 123 doesn't require two different ones (or monthly paying ones) - - but I was talking about the Halifax Reward.

I thought I was being smart by opening a Nationwide Flex Account thru Quidco for £70 cashback till I noticed I had signed up to using their account transfer service. I put in my Lloyds Vantage account details (the one where you keep £6K in and transfer in £1K a month) and get 4% int. However, I want to keep that account. I have 4 such Vantage accounts totalling £24K and I didnt want to cancel/lose one as I think the max you are supposed to have is 3.
I was thinking of opening 3 Lloyds Classic Vantage accounts putting in £5K in each account (moving around the £1K monthly) earning 3% then changing my original details to one of these accounts when the paperwork arrives over the next few days - what do you think?
I am even confusing myself now.
I was panicking as my Santander 3.2% ends in 2 days time and I need to find a home for £32K.

I have had these problems too and now given up with ICICI. All my cash is sitting with Nationwide e-savings plus at 1.7%. Lets hope they don't go bust.

is there a list of, say, the top ten savings accounts (accepting that current accounts seem to be the best savings accounts nowadays)?

I am confused. Sounds as if you are talking about a FlexDirect, rather than a FlexAccount?

You then go on to say you have 4 Lloyds Vantage accounts, know that the max you are allowed now is 3, and then you proceed to say you want to open 3 Lloyds Vantage accounts? Do you mean BoS Vantage?

No idea whether you can change the account you want to switch from - - I would definitely not do it if the switching process has started (and no, I don't know whether you can tell whether it started). I don't, however, believe they close the old account, so you could re-establish your DDs that they transferred (and which you need to get your 4% at Lloyds).

What I don't understand is why you didn't just open a couple more 123s - they would easily have taken your £32K between them. How many 123s have you got?
  • I think there are 2 different kinds of Lloyds Vantage. One pays 4% up to £6K in you pay in £1K a month and have 2 DDs attached and the other pays 3% up to £5K. I have 4 of the 4% ones but none of the 3% ones. Hopefully as you say they wont close the account but just transfer the DDs in which case I can transfer them back. I dont have any Santander 123 accounts but was looking at them for the £32K I have to put somewhere else shortly.
  • I'm confused and I need help.
I have just inherited 10k. At the moment it's in my current account and I want to put it in to a savings account as I fear that I will just spend it if it sits in my current account.
I would like to put it in a account that I can get at rather than not touching it for a year or something.
Has anyone got any ideas, any advice, any bad experiences or the best bank that offer the best service?
    Thanking anyone in advance.
