Why not? 5% on 2.5K for 12 months is unbeatable at present.

I am almost ashamed to say I just remembered I have an account with them with £1500 in - which is paying a whopping 0.2% interest - I am currently on the phone organising the FlexDirect

    Opened - awaiting paperwork!!

    Thats amazing...socrates.
As they are all part of same group HBOS, would Lloyds,BOS and Halifax allow cycling £1000 among them?

Well within HBOS and Lloyds once a month £1000 from the £5000 I have moves around the 3 accounts and returns to where it came from

With Halifax £1000 goes into each of the 2 accounts by SO from First Direct and comes back after a couple of days

    Anywhere else left....

Well, there's multiple FlexDirects but if rumours are to be believed, you might have missed the boat on that. See the appropriate thread.

You could investigate whether you are a bit light on the Reg Savers still....drip-fed 4% ones might still be worth the effort

And then you could investigate investments because unless you have a short(ish) term requirement for all this cash, it might not be sensible to keep it all in cash.

Flex Direct - ship has sailed

Regular Savers - will pass - have FD and HSBC already

Stocks & Shares ISA fully loaded - with £500 a month drip feeding into one of the Vanguard Funds - will add lump sums here and there

alright, so it looks as if you will just have to send the rest to me. You can do a lump sum or monthly payments, or a mixture of both. I guarantee I will make good use of the money. ;)

    Hi
Just had a look round old Lloyds account (easy saver) which I haven't paid into for over a year and a half and noticed applied interest rate is showing as 1.6%.Not sure this is correct in current climate and would be interested if anyone else has the same interest applied?
