    Hi
Just had a look round old Lloyds account (easy saver) which I haven't paid into for over a year and a half and noticed applied interest rate is showing as 1.6%.Not sure this is correct in current climate and would be interested if anyone else has the same interest applied?

http://www.lloydstsb.com/rates/savings/easy-saver.asp shows 1.2% with 12 month bonus, after bonus period this drops to 0.1% (gross)

Totally agree which is why I am confused as when I click on account details it shows 1.6% gross? Too good to be true?

I'd ring and check, you might be getting a better rate! I rang all my banks up last week and checked every rate on our savings, some were spot on the listings, some were a couple of points out.

Are you saying you are getting a better rate than advertised? If so, which ones?

I think isofa is saying to shadowdog that he should telephone Lloyd's to check his interest rate as he may be getting the 1.60% not the 1.20% advertised.

I need to make 3% on my savings, which I probably will not be able to do in the UK.

Does anyone know any non UK accounts where I can invest £250k at 3% or more?

You need to look in South east Asia but no more than the bank guarantees you for any given amount

Hong Kong and Singapore are a good start and HSBC have a presence there

Are you after saving or investing?

It is possible to get 3% AER in the UK for savings, though you could only do about £110K per person safely (i.e. with FSCS protection).

It is easily possible to make 3% AER (and more) in investments, without having to go outside the UK and assume currency risks.
