Apologies I forgot to mention this earlier in the week but now that 5% EA accounts qualify for the top 10, this also makes the Co-operative Bank Base Rate Tracker Savings Account at 5% (very steep £100k min for the top rate) eligible for inclusion.

Account tracks various amounts below the BOE base rate till 30/6/2025:

EDIT: Account requires a Co-op current account to be eligible

You also need a current account to apply.

Do you think any of these companies will take on extra staff to alleviate the "high number of calls " problem?

Nah, didn't think so. Be too easy.

What annoys me is when they make it so you HAVE to ring them, then complain because they are getting too many calls.
The higher than normal number of calls thing seems to be a standard message used to manage expectations/give them a pre-excuse for poor customer service/encourage you not to use the phone to contact them.

I phoned a financial services company yesterday who were "experiencing higher than normal call volumes with a wait time of over 30 minutes" - then two rings and through to someone instantly...
MSE is doing some research into this at the mo - here's the page if anyone here would like to contribute:

Would be nice if HMRC would be in the list....
  • I got in touch with HYPERJAR today, was number 1 in the queue, they answered within 10 seconds and then apologised for the wait and thanked me for my patience.

Does anyone know if Santander branches can in any way service Cahoot e.g. taking copies of a passport and verify identity and forwarding copies on? Cahoot doesn't seem to have a Freepost service either, unless I just can't find it?

I asked a couple of weeks ago, the response was no as they're completely ring fenced to be separate.

I opened the sunny, passed all the AML/CRA checks, got the account open and got the account details, but because my info was slightly different to the last time I had an account with them 22 years ago I needed to send two forms of ID via snail mail at my own cost before it could be used.

I immediately closed the a/c an hour after opening as it just wasn't worth it for me.
