I'm looking for some advice, really not sure what to look for in an ISA. I have a Santander cash ISA but there seems to be no info on their website regarding interest rates (I'd heard that they stopped accepting new customers for cash ISAs so maybe that's why?). I've had this ISA for a few years, will the interest rate be low as I've passed the 12 month bonus period? Should I be looking into transferring my money to a new account?
Thank you
P.S. I have looked on the MSE website and seen some good ISA accounts. My main confusion is that Santander offer no info about the account I have, so how can I look for a better account when I don't know the details of the one I've got0 -

Hi Steve, Try finding your account in this list of discontinued saving accounts by Santander: http://www.santander.co.uk/csgs/StaticBS?blobcol=urldata&blobheader=application%2Fpdf&blobkey=id&blobtable=MungoBlobs&blobwhere=1223419040757&cachecontrol=immediate&ssbinary=true&maxage=3600Saving £10,000 in 2013: £4491.48/£10,0000 -

Santander list several cash ISAs available on their website. If you've had your ISA for a while, then yes, the chances are you're getting 0.5% or 0.1% or something equally insulting. Yes, you should be looking to transfer. See Martin's guide at

Some of the better offers can start around Feb/March. You'd do best looking on the ISAs and Tax Savings part of the forum for details.0 -

As regular savers tend to pay most interest but have interest penalties for missed payments and payments can't be reduced and you are saving an irregular amount. I would start a regular saver at £300 per month and an instant access to take the excess for the months when I wanted to save more than £300. Once the instant access built up a bit I would increase the amount being paid into the regular saver using the funds in the instant access as required and plan it so that I never default on the regular saver.
Don't forget to put in an R85 on both accounts before interest is added and always move your money when interest bonuses expire.0 -
Hi ya, I've been looking at Martins email. It mentions a cash ISA that is giving away free kindle. But when I follow the link there is no mention of this offer.
Can any one help? Is this deal closed already?
Thanks.
