I think you have to be signed up to Blue Rewards, but ALSO have to register for Cashback rewards, which can't be done online, only in the app.

However, I cannot see any facility to do this in the wallet. I have phoned Barclays to ask how this may be done, and they say that the offer can only be signed up for in the app, despite the FAGs clearly saying otherwise. Has anyone else successfully signed up for this offer using online banking?1 -

I took it to mean that I could sign up either in the Blue Rewards Wallet, (which is available in Online Banking as well as the App), or on the Blue Rewards page in the Barclays App, which is not available in Online Banking, as it's an App. The use of the word "or" can be seen to separate the two.0

The list of retailers participating in the Barclays Blue Rewards cashback offer is hilariously limited and obscure so, unless I'm missing something, it's not even worth the small effort of me registering for it based on the fact that I've never used any of the ones listed and if Barclays aren't going to provide a complete list, it's certainly not going to be worth swapping a guaranteed 1% cashback with Chase for an unknown chance of getting 5% with Barclays.
Presumably if any popular retailers that the majority of people actually used on a regular basis were participating (such as supermarkets or the likes of Amazon etc), they would be mentioned ?0 -

Can I suggest that you look at the dedicated thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6476904/cashback-from-barclays-blue/p1
for the correct interpretation of the offer.
Perhaps all comments on this subject should move there as this is rather off-topic for Easy Access Savings

Anyone else know if this is the case?1

See the thread linked above - it has already been tested with HL and the result is it doesn't work.

Barclays Blue Rewards retailer cashback is very similar to Virgin and LBG. My only useful one currently is 8% cashback at LNER. You can buy any train tickets from LNER (apart from seasons possible) or buy a 1 year voucher for future use.0
