This is why I don't go too mad rushing my money around. Prior to today I only had 1 EA acc at over 5% but even if you do the calc on the full 85k FSCS limit with each institution it was less than a pound a day your losing on something like .4% Don't get me wrong a pound a day is a lot over a year but invariably within a couple or few weeks existing providers up their rates and everything settles down again. I just keep a spreadsheet and average all the interest rates of accounts. Generally there are a few names which seem to stay near the top although I did ditch Santander in the meantime as they didn't keep up pacer6mile said:Very impressed with Coventry lately. Even when they fall behind a bit, it doesn't take them too long to come back to the top of the leader board - and now topping both the savings account and ISA easy access charts. Of course none of these are unlimited access - but if you are happy with a limited access account, they seem to be reliably very competitive.

Savings rates seem to be getting close to the inflation rate now do we think it will flip in the medium term if rates stay high will savings account actually generate a positive return?0

Given that interest rates are very unlikely to fall until inflation is approaching the BoE target, then yes, they will.oz0707 said:Savings rates seem to be getting close to the inflation rate now do we think it will flip in the medium term if rates stay high will savings account actually generate a positive return?2kWp Solar PV - 10*200W Kioto, SMA Sunny Boy 2000HF, SSE facing, some shading in winter, 37° pitch, installed Jun-2011, inverter replaced Sep-2017 AND Feb-2022.1 -

It sure did. When Tandem hit 5% others, such as Chip, threw in the towel and decided they couldn’t compete. Now Santander, Ulster, Coventry and others are easily beating 5%. Funny old world isn’t it?Bazzalona13295 said:

It’s an odd easy access account this one since you need to maintain a balance of £5,000 at all times to secure 5.2% interest.SeriousHoax said:Thinking of opening ulster Bank loyalty saver 5.20%

It looks like the NatWest app 1:1 so going off that, it's pretty good.SeriousHoax said:Thinking of opening ulster Bank loyalty saver 5.20%

Has anyone else got this account, and how do you find the app?I applied for it this morning from their site - the account is provisionally opened (it said on the screen), but they will send me an email... they are also sending application forms (for ID I assume) through the post... I would hope as a NatWest customer it would be a formality, but have not received any emails yet.no point installing the app until I get login details.
though you can have a zero balance if it becomes uncompetitive.SaveTheEuro said:It’s an odd easy access account this one since you need to maintain a balance of £5,000 at all times to secure 5.2% interest.1
