Ford Money rising to 4.95% from Friday as per their Twitter
    About bleeding time.

Ford had become very prompt at increasing their rate, but they seem to be slipping back to their older ways of lagging the update.  It is possible they are only doing this increase as they expect the BoE to raise rates by 0.25% this month.
More likely to position themselves knowing the Santander offer would be coming off. Little point a small player trying to compete directly with a big 6 offering a loss leading account(if not loss leading for Sant, would certainly be for a smaller player) .

The 5.2% Santander account is going off sale at midnight
    Source?
Also being reported in the Telegraph
Santander pulls top 5.2pc savings deal after just one week (telegraph.co.uk)

But Santander said it will now pull the account at midnight on Tuesday, just eight days after launch, following “significant demand on the limited edition product”.

From Wednesday it will offer easy-access savers a rate of 2.5pc instead – less than half the annual interest previously on offer.

I take it if you've opened one of these but haven't funded it yet you'll still get the rate? We have some savings coming from a notice account next week that we wanted to put in easy access so opened an account especially for that, but it's currently sitting unfunded. (Could throw a quid in if it made a difference.)

    Yes that’s correct.

The Ts & Cs do say minimum balance of £1; whether that's to hold the account open, or just to get the full interest rate, I'm not sure, but, I'd throw a pound over if I were you, just to be on the safe side.

The press are really trying to puzzle people on whether or not the BoE will increase the base rate this time. All these articles are coming out about what individual members of the MPC think. Overall we are still looking at 70% chance of going to 5.5%... hopefully. (I just want easy access to be good enough to make regular savers unnecessary).

I tried to set up an account today, but you have to post proof of identity, so that won't get to them until tomorrow or Thursday, so I guess I have missed out.

Setting up an account online but not accepting digital copies of ID seems a bit ridiculous.

I’m still waiting for the info to come in the post to get online but there is a small amount now whizzing over from my current account just in case! Fingers crossed the postal delays don’t mean the account is lost.
