I’m still waiting for the info to come in the post to get online but there is a small amount now whizzing over from my current account just in case! Fingers crossed the postal delays don’t mean the account is lost.SJMALBA said:
The Ts & Cs do say minimum balance of £1; whether that's to hold the account open, or just to get the full interest rate, I'm not sure, but, I'd throw a pound over if I were you, just to be on the safe side.Eirambler said:I take it if you've opened one of these but haven't funded it yet you'll still get the rate? We have some savings coming from a notice account next week that we wanted to put in easy access so opened an account especially for that, but it's currently sitting unfunded. (Could throw a quid in if it made a difference.)0 -
Id be very suprised if its not 5.5% after todays wage numbers.Zaul22 said:The press are really trying to puzzle people on whether or not the BoE will increase the base rate this time. All these articles are coming out about what individual members of the MPC think. Overall we are still looking at 70% chance of going to 5.5%... hopefully. (I just want easy access to be good enough to make regular savers unnecessary).Ex Sg27 (long forgotten log in details)Massive thank you to those on the long since defunct Matched Betting board.1 -
May I ask how you are managing to put in a small amount before the letters arrive in the post with the passwords?poppystar said:

I can't see any way of doing this without Santander's banking details?
Or is your current account with them so you have more info? I haven't any other accounts with them.
If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0 -
Why such media fuss about an account going NLA? Marketing from Santander or am I missing something?0

Because it is the best easy access rate by far?inkydolphin said:Why such media fuss about an account going NLA? Marketing from Santander or am I missing something?0 -
Which is being withdrawn at 11.59pm.......so there ain't much time left to get it opened.0

I'm sure other market leading rates have gone NLA without so much fuss (and a day's notice for a final flurry of fund gathering)SaveTheEuro said:

My partner, who has had a single bank account for the last 40 years (which has no online access), was able to open a EAS(LE) online today in about 5 minutes - no requirement for ID documents - so presumably the checks against the usual sources were successful.silvercue said:
I tried to set up an account today, but you have to post proof of identity, so that won't get to them until tomorrow or Thursday, so I guess I have missed out.kaMelo said:

Santander pulls top 5.2pc savings deal after just one week (telegraph.co.uk)But Santander said it will now pull the account at midnight on Tuesday, just eight days after launch, following “significant demand on the limited edition product”.
From Wednesday it will offer easy-access savers a rate of 2.5pc instead – less than half the annual interest previously on offer.
Setting up an account online but not accepting digital copies of ID seems a bit ridiculous.

I have not received an email after applying for the Santander account. Im worried i made a typo.
I took a screenshot of the application number, will i be able to phone up tomorrow and proceed with opening the account or am i too late?0 -
Provided you took care entering your details, I wouldn't worry. My account was up and running pretty quickly and long before I received any confirmation emails (I was an existing customer so didn't need to wait for online banking letters to check).Villa1345 said:I have not received an email after applying for the Santander account.
