  • Hi all, I know that direct debits have probably been discussed a thousand times already but I just have a quick question - does a National Lottery recurring game direct debit, say Euromillions at £2.50 per week, count as 4 direct debits with Barclays or still just the one?

    Thanks

A lottery DD going out 4 times in a single month would count as 4 DDs as far as Barclays blue rewards is concerned.

A list of DD ideas can be found on this thread:

It's one monthly DD, National Lottery debit 4 or 5 weeks' worth of ticket money in advance then 'buy' a ticket weekly from the credit.

Hi all, I've had a look at the easy access best buys and can't see 1 that fits our requirements. Can anyone else advise? It doesn't have to be market leading interest rate, but >4% would be ideal. The criteria is, it has to managed via app, interest paid monthly and a low minimum pay in (£1000). We already have a Tandem easy access for personal savings, but ideally wanted somewhere to put money for my Wife's tax bill due every year from her self employment. We did open an account from oxbury but then it said this was unable to be managed via the app of on android device...

     Hope that makes sense.

    Thanks

Don't think anyone's mentioned Skipton BS.

probably because their 4%+ accounts pay the interest annually - I think their tracker paid monthly, but that's NLA.

wow - I wasn't really expecting them to move from 4.6%... been happily using this since launch :)

they've been promising an app for years - literally years... they updated their login process last month and it's now very similar to Santander's... so perhaps that will make an app easier at some point.

but opened instantly if you're an existing customer - though you'd probably have to ensure that you use the same details as your existing account as weirdly you cannot open the account when logged in, you need to apply from the main site.

I take it then, that the Cahoot account isn't visible from the Santander app?  This might be of interest to me, if transfers between it and Santander accounts are instant.

They have eventually sent me my login details, needed to chase them for it. Alas, there is no app. The online banking looks like a budget version of Santander online banking - basic but functional. Deposits from Santander are instant, as are withdrawals to Santander. I have not tried it with other banks but would guess it's pretty much instant from/to them as well, subject to any fraud checks.

You can schedule payments for a future date but there are no SOs, or DDs.

Can also be operated by phone. No Branch service. A bit slow to open if you aren't a Choot customer yet.

Nice account for those who missed the Tandem train. Not sure why it was removed from the No Chat thread?

Refused me as I failed their Equifax proof of id. No alternative method of verification offered. At least it was quick and no need to complete all my bank details before waiting for an email.
