  • How do I check the rate I am getting at Newcastle on the app? It just links me to the website and a savings pdf from July. I want to ensure the rate has now increased with base rate rise.
Can't see it in the app, it's shown on the website (as 4.3%). NBS have 5 working days from the BoE announcement to apply the rate increase.
NBS tracker is still showing as 4.3%.  I guess their '5 working days' calculation is different to mine 🙃

I'm having problems too. Opened the Tandem account a couple of hours ago, linked my Halifax account and transferred £100 no problem
Just withdrew £10k from Chip in to my Halifax and then tried to add it to Tandem and it failed twice. I couldn't confirm the transaction in the Halifax account - the account details were all in red and the submit button was greyed out so I had to manually cancel the transaction.
Tried again with £5k this time and the approval went through fine with Halifax, but it failed it the Tandem app. Not a great start.

    Update -
Just tried again with £5k, looked like it was going through OK but it eventually failed in the Tandem app.
If you try to send more than £5k from Halifax to Tandem then first some of the text goes red, if you click continue again it tells you that you must select something & there is nothing to select.

Earlier in the day I sent £1k and it worked, but I held off trying to send the rest as the rate hadn't increased. After the increase I managed to get a £3k and a £1k through, I have loads of confirmation from halifax of £5k that never went through. I gave up and just moved the money back to Chip, which worked fine.

Later in the evening Halifax app started alerting me to transactions that had gone through hours earlier, I tried again trying to send to Tandem and nothing happened.

Now I managed to get a £5k to go through first time, it might be a random ongoing problem or it might just be they were overwhelmed. So I'm keeping a small float in Chip just in case for now, in case they are as random at processing withdrawals.

Thanks for the info. I left it a few hours then managed to transfer £4,900 to Tandem via open banking. Later again I set them up as a payee and transferred £500 through faster payments. It was in my account in less than 5 mins. A while later I transferred another £4,500 over - again through faster payments - so finally managed to get my £10k in!

I've never had a problem paying £10k in one go from Halifax to Chip via open banking, so all of this was a frustrating experience. I did consider changing my linked account but couldn't decide which of my accounts to use.

I remember a useful post here listing all the banks and their limits on open banking transfers but I just couldn't find it.

According to Moneyfacts (been waiting to say that!) Paragon Bank Double Access Savings Account - Issue 1 up to 4.75% from tomorrow (09/08). Minimum £1K balance.
If you follow the link the Paragon website is still showing 4.6%

However, if I login to my account it shows 4.75% as expected.
    4.75% in the link now

Regarding using a tablet to use the Tandem app without the use of the phone:
    • You need a tablet with a fingerprint reader.
    • If you logout of the app (as opposed to just closing It) you will have to enter the phone number to get back in.
    • They also randomly ask for the phone number at other times.

My personal experience of Tandem has been positive. Opened the account yesterday and withdrew £30k from my Kroo account to my First Direct account. Then linked my First Direct account to Tandem using Open Banking and deposited the £30k into Tandem with few issues.

I did have to go through some fraud checks with Kroo, but this took no longer than an hour. There was also a delay of circa 20 mins before the money appeared in my Tandem account after being transferred from First Direct. Overall took a couple of hours to go from a 4.35% interest to a 5% interest account. Worth it to get an extra £200 a year in interest.

When it comes to phones and security updates, I know that Apple promise to provide updates for iPhones for at least 6 years after they're released. On that basis, it may be better value to buy the cheapest iPhone brand new knowing it will get security updates for a few years rather than a cheap second hand Android where it may stop updating soon after purchase.

Neither could I when I applied but came up with that message so phoned up and they said that is correct and acknowledged it should be stated on website. I guess that’s what the ‘loyalty’ part of the loyalty saver is referring to.
