My personal experience of Tandem has been positive. Opened the account yesterday and withdrew £30k from my Kroo account to my First Direct account. Then linked my First Direct account to Tandem using Open Banking and deposited the £30k into Tandem with few issues.
I did have to go through some fraud checks with Kroo, but this took no longer than an hour. There was also a delay of circa 20 mins before the money appeared in my Tandem account after being transferred from First Direct. Overall took a couple of hours to go from a 4.35% interest to a 5% interest account. Worth it to get an extra £200 a year in interest.
When it comes to phones and security updates, I know that Apple promise to provide updates for iPhones for at least 6 years after they're released. On that basis, it may be better value to buy the cheapest iPhone brand new knowing it will get security updates for a few years rather than a cheap second hand Android where it may stop updating soon after purchase.3 -
Neither could I when I applied but came up with that message so phoned up and they said that is correct and acknowledged it should be stated on website. I guess that’s what the ‘loyalty’ part of the loyalty saver is referring to.janusdesign said:
where does it say that? I can't see that mentioned anywhere...tg99 said:Ulster bank loyalty saver - looks like you have to hold a current account to open this.0 -
Tandem. trying to use Barclays as the account to link. all it does is open my app as usual and asks for my passcode as usual. testing Santander and it opens the whole "open banking" process. anyone had issues with Barclays?0

I remember a useful post here listing all the banks and their limits on open banking transfers but I just couldn't find it.1 -
I use fingerprint rather than passcode but when adding an account to Tandem, it just seems to take me to the app of the other bank, I let it see my fingerprint then the account appears as linked. So if you go ahead and enter your passcode, you'll probably find that it has linked you. I've done that for Santander, Halifax and Lloyds so far.pfpf said:Tandem. trying to use Barclays as the account to link. all it does is open my app as usual and asks for my passcode as usual. testing Santander and it opens the whole "open banking" process. anyone had issues with Barclays?1 -
Thanks, but that's a list of regular savings accounts. I actually managed to find the info I was looking for after posting my comment earlier - it was shared here from the Chip website.MichaelAP said:

Yes, I had exactly the same issue trying to link Tandem with Barclays - the Barclays app just opens as normal and doesn't take you to an Open Banking permission screen. Fortunately, I was able to link it to one of my other current accounts without any issues.pfpf said:Tandem. trying to use Barclays as the account to link. all it does is open my app as usual and asks for my passcode as usual. testing Santander and it opens the whole "open banking" process. anyone had issues with Barclays?
I wonder if this needs reporting to Tandem as a bug ?1 -
Well that didn't go so well. I sent another 10k to Santander this morning en route to Tandem. Thought I'd try via the app today, rather than the website but they have declined the transfer and blocked me AGAIN!gt94sss2 said:
Multiple transactions are more likely to be blocked. So the fewer there are the better to reduce the risk of having your account blocked.BestSeagull said:
Thanks. So I would have been better sending £10k in the first place? I thought smaller transactions might be less likely to be blocked... not so.gt94sss2 said:
For info - You can make individual payments of up to 25k from the Santander app - so the £5k payment could have been larger reducing the number of transactions.BestSeagull said:Trying to pay into Tandem from Santander, the transaction was blocked and they've locked me out of online banking and the app.
Test transfer went through, then £5k payment but was shut down trying to make another payment.
I'm up and running again now but that's the best part of two hours of my life that I won't get back again.
Santander allow customers to make £100k of faster payments in 24 hours (per Santander account).
So you can do 4 * £25k via the app - or call them up to do a single larger one
Really can't be bothered with this. Now waiting to talk to someone, again.0 -
I actually tried this a number of times but, as you haven't actually given permission within the Barclays app, the link isn't established. If you switch back to the Tandem app, it is sat there waiting for a response (spinning circle icon). I suspect it's a compatibility issue between the two apps.BestSeagull said:

What level of access to a connected account does Tandem need in order to transfer into it's instant access savings? I added an account with only the mandatory box ticked and it doesn't allow me to transfer anything in0
