How fairly recent? What make?ToneP said:
Not really any choice at all. I have a fairly recent android phone but all the banks I have accounts with have 'updated' their apps so they no longer work on my phone. This was not my choice & I don't think it's reasonable to be expected to buy a new phone every time they do this.Backwards compatibility seems to be an unknown concept to the current tranche of programmers ( and the updates have nothing to do with security).

Thanks for that. Turns out Vodaphone are 0000 too.
In my defense it's around £4 a month for unlimited minutes and texts. They started putting it up by inflation a few years ago and so it's getting to the point where I am thinking of changing.

They'll be hoping once the top up rate expires that some people won't bother to move to a better rate if one is available. They're hardly the first provider to include a bonus rate on top of an underlying rate.Yellowman said:Why does Tandem offer a bonus rate (0.35%) on top of its 'main rate' (4.65%)?
Why not just offer a rate of £5.00%?0 -
I think it's so that after a year your rate decreases. If they wanted to cut everyone's rate all at once, it would lose them more business.Yellowman said:Why does Tandem offer a bonus rate (0.35%) on top of its 'main rate' (4.65%)?

Most of mine came through on the same day by 6 pm, although a couple did occur on the following day.gt94sss2 said:Does anyone know how quick National Counties/Family Building Society are wrt withdrawals?

I've an old Galaxy S7 (2016ish?) have no issue with Tandem, and other relevant banking apps, so definitely backwards compatible, at least for the time being. I'd certainly consider it 'fairly non recent'.ToneP said:Not really any choice at all. Is the phones software up to date?
I wouldn't expect indefinite support due to security and software changes over time.0 -
Not near a branch, but any updated rate is not on their website.2010 said:From NBS tracker T& C.
When the Bank of England Base Rate changes, the new interest rate on your account will apply no more than 5 working days after the change is effective. We will not provide notice of this in writing, new rates will be displayed in our branches and on our website, newcastle.co.uk.0 -

Some phones are appalling. I had a phone that never received any update at all in the UK at all, though it was possible to download some software that would download an update from the manufacturer that was meant for europe and install that.NorfolkCanary said:

The best android manufacturers offer three years of updates, so you can squeeze a bit more out of them. I'm running an unofficial software update on my 2018 phone (I got it second hand in 2019). For my current phone the manufacturer gave up releasing updates and released the source code instead of their next update and let the community deal with it.
I do wish Google were a bit more like Microsoft when it comes to software updates.
