I haven't been asked for confirmation of identity documents and I'm a totally new customer...2

Does anyone know how quick Newcastle are with credits and debits? I dont want another Shawbrook, they are very slow at interest payments, debits and credits...0

Same here. Just wasted time reading stuff and applying. If they mentioned sending ID by post at the beginning I wouldn't bother applying, but the ID message appeared only at the end of application. My printer doesn't work so that makes it even more difficult. Chip pays 4.21%, which is only 0.09% less, and that might increase in near future anyway. Another drawback of this Newcastle account is cash drag, with Chip the access is instant.fabsaver said:
Same here. Very odd as I open lots of accounts and always get verified electronically.Mr._H_2 said:
Me too, which is odd because I'm usually easily verified electronically. One would imagine that if there were a means to provide the documentation electronically, they would provide those details in the application confirmation email. However, the only method provided is to post physical copies to them (how quaint!)jaceyboy said:Just applied but they are asking for additional proof of identity, has anyone managed to do this electronically rather than postal?
I can only think of one occasion in the last few years where the electronic checks failed and I was asked to provide id. However it was just a temporary blip because I'd applied in the early hours. On that occasion I reapplied during working hours and the account was opened instantly.
Unless they allow documents by email it's really not worth the effort. It's very likely the rate will be beaten soon anyway. Their loss.2 -
I shall stew on that fact on my walk to the post box before the thunderstorms arrive :-)cymruchris said:I haven't been asked for confirmation of identity documents and I'm a totally new customer...1 -
Can't be bothered with this one. Happy with the Chip rate for now...
I'm sure they'll be others with less faff this week too...

Can't talk to debits, but my initial test deposit of £10 (done after the account was set up) came through in about 2 hours. Interesting it is listed as a "faster payment" which I didn't think happened when you don't get your own account/sort code numbers.Aidanmc said:Anyone know how long deposits by bank transfer take to show on Newcastle account?I used them once in the past but cant remember, think it was same day though.

Though it does track 0.7% below the base rate so it is guaranteed to pass on the full BOE base rate rises. For the sake of a £1 deposit and in my case about 2 minutes applying it's worth grabbing hold of IMHO.SickGroove said:Can't be bothered with this one. Happy with the Chip rate for now...

I also did a test deposit of £1 that has just gone in. Does anyone know if I can deposit more money in using the same details or have to wait until I'm given a proper account number? The email did say only use the reference for your initial payment so I'm guessing not...?artyboy said:Can't talk to debits, but my initial test deposit of £10 (done after the account was set up) came through in about 2 hours. My recollection of a Newcastle ID check was whoever processed what was sent in had a different idea of what was acceptable to the list on the website - nothing happened with it and it took phone calls to cancel the application and get the funds returned.
Now I won't bother with any that doesn't verify on application - a limited issue that can be withdrawn or pages of comments here (remember Santander and others) isn't enough to make this hassle worthwhile. It's a good rate but others will catch up - EA rates are well behind BoE now but be patient as it just takes one to increase and others will follow.2
