I applied as an existing member whilst logged in and got this screen message:
Your account should be open within 2 working days and available for viewing via the 'Account Summary' page within your logged in online account manager. To log in just follow the links from newcastle.co.uk and use your existing login details
I also then subsequently got an email with this message:
Thank you for your recent application.Your new account and account number will be available to view via the 'Account Summary' page when you log in
Edit - now showing in appTiVo_Lad said:t1redmonkey said:razord said:Be aware of this though:"Please note, this product is a limited issue and may be withdrawn at anytime. To avoid missing out, we recommend that you act soon and ensure your funds are received promptly by Newcastle Building Society. We reserve the right to refuse any funds received after the product is withdrawn."
The special conditions say this 'After placing your initial Deposit of at least £1, you may make unlimited further Deposits or withdrawals penalty free, subject to the minimum and maximum balances shown above' along with a blurb about how the special conditions prevail over the ts and cs. Not 100% sure, but I wonder if that message you saw applies to initial deposits mainly

For those who applied as a new customer, you should be able to use the forgotten user ID link to get your user ID "early".
At least that worked for me, and I can login and see the account (albeit, unfunded at the moment!)8 -
I've also opened the account and will await my details. One thing to bear in mind is that it appears to be similar to Charter in dealing with withdrawals i.e you lose a days interest. From the T&C"Cut off timesIf your withdrawal is authorised before the cut-off
times shown below, it will be processed on the same
day (assuming it is a working day) and received by
the recipient by close of business on the next
working day."
