Sorry he’s in Wellingborough Northants only has £12k most totp are online only.  He doesn’t do internet.
You could check https://moneyfactscompare.co.uk/savings-accounts/ for an account with the cashier symbol, meaning they are branch based, but it might be quicker to check the websites of banks/BS that have branches near your father.

Of the multi-branch nationals, Skipton tends to have decent branch-based savers. Skipton Everyday Saver is a straight-forward easy saver, currently paying 3.20% AER.  Skipton Branch Double Access Saver pays 3.60%. https://www.skipton.co.uk/savings/branch-accounts

He could put part in each to maximise the return with reasonable access.

Depends where he goes to or finds convenient really, Skipton is in Northampton and as said above has a branch account paying 3.2%, Yorkshire BS has a branch in Rushden and has an account paying 3.05% (Access Saver Plus)

Skipton BS also has two other branch easy access accounts, an ISA at 3.5% and a double access at 3.6% (min £10k). He could manage the accounts over the phone or go into the branch in Northampton if needed.

    Chip recommended @ 3.82%?

     I'm currently with Zopa smart saver 3.46% (83k) and Santander E-saver 3.20% (52k)

Any suggestions for easy access? Thanks

Is it just me, or did there used to be an option 'Close Account ' on Sainsbury's Instant Access account?

When I click on 'Account Details', for a fraction of a second it shows this:

    And then changes to this:

So put 85k in the chip easy access 3.82% now. Although reading some reviews people say it's ok to get money in. and have been asked a number of odd questions like "can you prove where your wealth came from" when trying to get your money back out.

    Can anyone confirm such procedures?

Never been asked any questions when putting money in or taking money out of Chip. These have been 5 figure amounts.

I have had this request: "As part of our regulatory responsibilities we need to perform source of wealth checks for some of our customers, and you've been selected for one as someone who has cumulatively deposited over £100,000 in Chip over 12 months. These checks help keep Chip safe and secure for everyone, but we appreciate this is inconvenient for you. So, we’ll aim to complete this check as quickly as possible. You’ll likely be familiar with the procedure from other financial products and services, such as mortgages, investments, and international money transfers. "

As I am keeping records, I had no issues providing them with the relevant information, and they confirmed within a few days "We have now completed the Source of Wealth check. We do not require anything further from you". I was able to continue to use my Chip account throughout the investigation, there was no block on my account ever.

So put 85k in the chip easy access 3.82% now.
I always leave some headroom for interest, unless I skim off the interest monthly. At 3.81%, I would deposit less than £82k.
