They are, like the other savings providers, a commercial outfit. Their products will be tailored to their needs, not ours. If they have enough funds to satisfy their loan requirements, they have no need to raise new money, and they are unlikely to care if you exercise your right to take your easy access money elsewhere.jaypers said:Not sure ‘annoyance’ is justified but I’m starting to feel quite annoyed with Atom. As an organisation they should be better with their rates. Taking the **** IMHO.3 -

I had wondered about suggesting getting the new Voter Authority Certificate as a non-driving, non-passport, photo alternative, but I see the government says "doesn't count as an ID for anything else", unhelpfully, and I suspect firms will therefore not accept it. In these days of photo ID, it would have been more useful for the government to create a voluntary, free, photo ID card.MichaelAP said:
Snap….. Exact same position, so fully understand where you are coming from.dgpur said:I know your pain. I have neither driving licence (due to my disability I’m not allowed to drive - so can’t get one) nor passport (again - too disabled to go abroad). So many times good options have come along requiring one of them. So those that don’t (and there’s really no need for it in our banking system) get my business. Stuff Kroo, Chase, Investec etc.!
On the plus side it forced me to look at ZOPA and I have never thought anything but 👍.6 -
I suspect it hasn't been updated yet. I seem to recall the same happened with the SRBS regular saver and I got the updated interest rate so I wouldn't worry about it.TiVo_Lad said:SeriousHoax said:Harpenden BS ( online instant access - Issue 1.

Agreed, except I would not make it voluntary.EthicsGradient said:

Investec 90 day notice saver up to 4.25%.
Appreciate this is not an easy access account, but may be of interest to some.

Totally agree… It annoys the heck out of me that although there are other photo ID methods, it is simply down to Driving License/Passport only…. No consideration to those unable to own a license and I am most certainly not going to pay for a passport when I can not travel.EthicsGradient said:I had wondered about suggesting getting the new Voter Authority Certificate as a non-driving, non-passport, photo alternative, but I see the government says "doesn't count as an ID for anything else", unhelpfully, and I suspect firms will therefore not accept it. This is exactly what I did although I had previously had a passport for many years the latest of which had expired. I hadn't any travel plans when I renewed almost solely for ID purposes.Mr._H_2 said:Seems there are a few people here gleefully shooting themselves in the foot by not having a passport “because they don’t travel”. Well, whilst travelling is of course the primary purpose, it obviously serves the rather important secondary purpose of providing you with photo ID. My suggestion to these folk is to stop being so unnecessarily obstinate, and just get yourself a passport. Or maybe then these people wouldn’t have anything to complain about?
I don't recall what I paid 6 or 7 years ago but it is now £82.50 online or £93.00 with paper form. Many would see this as wasted money and others as an outrage to have to spend this for ID purposes.
I have never had any ID issues and opening accounts for me is a breeze. I am happy this was money well spent.
Clearly many others would disagree.1
