Sainsbury's online withdrawal has a £20k limit FYI if not already aware.

Went to move a chunk of my Sainsbury's Defined Access Issue 38 2.87% to Skipton BR Tracker 3.1% wef today. Would not allow >£20k, have to call for that (and multiple transactions clearly not viable on defined access 3 withdrawals per account year).
First interaction on phone is recorded message "Please use our online service"!
Over 10 minutes waiting for answer, checked through Ts&Cs, does not mention any individual withdrawal restrictions.
Raised issue that defined access accounts should not restrict online withdrawal amounts (no others do that I am aware of) but if they do that should be highlighted in Ts&Cs.
And suggested that initial phone greeting should consider that callers might be calling because online system cannot service their needs and in this case directs customers to call in.
Received a modest goodwill payment for my inconvenience!

Just like Coventry BS, It's another case of not wanting to be the top paying account that is still available.

They probably had an influx of customers for the (now) 3.1% issue

It's a fair cop. Just made it in last week :)

    This is not investment advice.
Your money may go "down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... I got all tricked up and came up to this thing, lookin' so fire hot, a twenty out of ten..."

I agree it's not great that they limit the number and value of withdrawls unlss you're prepared to message or phone in.

What's a good alternative to Marcus? I already have Tandem, Chase and Atom.

I suppose you could still apply for Skipton by post. The application form is the same so as long as you date everything to before today and make it clear you are applying for issue 3 you should be fine.

Re Skipton tracker base rate -0.90% discontinued.

Does this mean the best EA rates will have a ceiling at about 3.0% to 3.1% until the next BoE decision?
I opened a Skipton ISA account online on 2nd Feb.

Will I still be entitled to the rate 0.9% points below the BoE rate (i.e. 3.1%)?
  • How instant is Skipton with their transfers? Got the account with £1 sitting in it. Got most parked in Kroo at the moment, which works fine but the app is still lagging but transfers in and out are almost instant.

The guy at Skipton I spoke to told me up to 4 hours for inbound faster payments to show, and mine appeared in 7 minutes!

  • This morning I moved money from Skipton to Nationwide and it took about 30 minutes.

They have never been "instant" in the 15 or so months I have been with them.
