  • Still waiting for Zopa to increase their rates...

From Monday I've 20K I need to put into an easy access account until I can put it into a new 1 year fixed Cash ISA on April 6th 2023 (already maxed out this year's allowance)

I've got Chase, Kroo & Tandem easy access accounts but after trying both Kroo & Tandem I think I'm gonna stick it all in Chase initially as they seem more fluid & any transfers to and from are pretty much instant.

Do premium bonds count as easy access? They are looking more attactive at 3.15% and tax free.
Hardly easy access it takes ages to redeem. Plus the 3.15% is not guaranteed. PBs are more like a lottery than an easy access savings account.
Not quite a lottery you don't say goodbye to you stake.

I never said they were a lottery but that they are similar to a lottery and more lottery-like than an easy access savings account. They are like a lottery in which you can cash in your stake then.
Its like a lottery where you are betting the interest. But where the full amount "bet" is returned to the investors. With lotteries only around 50% is returned.

Massive thank you to those on the long since defunct Matched Betting board.
  • I called Marcus to ask if they were going to increase their rates any time so - no was the answer.
I like PBs - they are tax free and don't affect your personal savings allowance - but your chances of getting a decent return are poor unless you have a decent amount in. The maths is complicated but iirc if you have less than about 4k you are unlikely to win much.

I'd be surprised if zopa didn't bump their rate's up this week, as Chase will be 3% AER next week.

It is my fault, I know.  However, I just don't have the time to check the latest rates (knowing they will be changed in a relatively short time).  I have the majority of money in Santander EA 2.75%  and a smaller amount in Marcus 2.5%    I know I should be getting 3%+ and I will get round to moving it soon.
Thank you for reading this message.
