For Kroo to pop up out of seemingly nowhere (comparatively) and offer the highest interest rate for unlimited instant access since 2012, and on a current account no less...

    Where have you read this?

I didn't. This evening's Martin Lewis Money Show (timestamp 09:32) was all about savings and interest rates.

"That's actually the best, open to all, easy access savings with unlimited withdrawals we've seen since 2012."

Which account is paying the highest interest that is accessible via an app?
    My guesses -

Nationwide, FlexDirect - 5% (for up to £1500)
    Chip - 3% (for up to £lots)
Though Nationwide is only for a year.

Club Lloyds monthly saver is at 5.25% though (£400/mth max)
    Surely Zopa - 2.86% to 3.26%

    First Direct - 7% (£300 pcm)
The 7% First Direct is definitely not an easy access account.
Indeed. But the OP asked, generally, for the highest interest via an app, and the post I responded to had already mentioned Club Lloyd, so I was just trying to be thorough.

Totally depends how he defines it. He is correct that there hasn't been any other announcement of a 3% current account for up to £85k since 2012.

For those who have gone via TCB…..it says when redirected from TCB to Kroo website that purchase not eligible for cashback if made via the Kroo app but as far as I can see once landing on Kroo website you have to download the app to apply?
Same here, using laptop, getting trough to website and scan QR code there to download the app. For TCB, you have to put 50 quid in according to TCB T&C's. Wonder how they track if they can't properly place a cookie.

Edit: TCB Cashback tracked as £0.00. Looks like another support ticket required.

Feel free to personally correct him on Twitter. I'm sure he'll advise his researchers not to feed him misinformation next time.

According to Moneyfacts, Sainsbury's Bank are launching Defined Access Saver (issue 38), which will pay 2.92%.

    The interest rates are tiered:
    2.92% on £1,000 - £500,000
    1.05% £1 - £9,999
    0.90% on £500,001 and above.

It allows 3 penalty-free withdrawals per year.

The minimum opening deposit is £1.

My TCB earnings appears to have two entries for Kroo. The first is showing £20 and the second is showing zero.  I'm assuming this may have happened due to me having to try multiple times to get through the application process because of Kroo's laggy app. Though on each attempt, I did uninstall the Kroo app and then start afresh from TCB.

In light of what you said about the £50 minimal,  I've just grabbed a further £40 from my donor bank. Similar to last night's effort with the tenner, the £40 has not appeared in the account, even though Kroo assured me that the transaction was complete and the donor bank is showing that the money has left them.

I had to open the app like 8 times and every time I could go a step further. Re-installing doesn't really do much I guess, as they collect phone specific data anyway (as long as you don't have a rooted phone all is ok). TCB has been rather bad in tracking for me recently, didn't track my Experian cashack for signup and the wrong amount for ClearScore. Both should pay £6 each. Quidco is much more reliable in my case with two times £30 tracked the next day for a TSB Spend & Save account.

Re HSBC Online Bonus saver account 3.00%

I have just opened a new 3.00% HSBC bonus saver and sent a nominal amount via an existing HSBC savings account. However I switched my HSBC current account a few months ago and now I have no payees in my HSBC online accounts.

Furthermore, I cannot set up a new payee from an HSBC savings account and therefore cannot transfer any money out of HSBC.

It looks like my only option is to open a new HSBC current account.

Just thought I would share this with others thinking of opening this savings account.
You can phone and ask them to setup a payee I also sent a nominal amount. But might a good idea to take out another current account to get there Regular Saver Account at 5%
