West Bromwich Building Society rate increases. The PDF of all the new rates for all the new accounts does not seem to be available at this time.

    Savings customers

For savers with accounts that track Bank Rate
Rates of interest will increase by 0.50% in line with product specific terms and conditions. These changes took effect from Wednesday 21 December 2022.

For savers with a variable rate savings account
Rates of interest will be increased by up to 0.30% on Wednesday 1 February 2023.

For savers with a fixed rate savings account
These changes only affect variable rates. There are no changes to fixed rate accounts.

"Kroo received its full banking licence on 24 June 2022 and launched its new current account in December 2022"

A rather new kid on the block. Attractive rate indeed but not sure if I want another hard search.
Soft search only, just like Metro, Monzo and Starling.

Wasn't aware it's only a soft search but even better! Thanks for clarification on this.

I opened a Monzo just last week. Hard search.

The Kroo I opened a couple of months ago did just a soft search.

In any case, though, the fear of hard searches seems vastly misplaced. Hard searches only matter if you are planning  to get a large credit facility (mortgage, loan, credit card limit increase) in the next 6-12 months. If you have no such plans, the hard searches don’t matter one iota. Hard searches also drop off your credit files after a year.

What a people's experience with kroo? Quite happy to use challenger banks as long as they offer an app that works.

How long do transfers in/out take?

Have a look over on the Budgeting board, there’s a Kroo thread. Not very busy. They use faster payments like all banks. What will happen if the MSE Massive hits them is anyone’s guess.

They're not that fast. I joined Kroo at about 11pm last night. Clicked on the "add money" button and proceeded to grab £10 from another current account of mine. As I write, the £10 is not showing in the Kroo account, despite their app saying the transaction was successful. The donor bank immediately showed the £10 debited.
In addition, I've found that the app can be laggy and this was the case when applying too.
The application was made via TopCashback, and that's already showing a £20 credit.

    The app is very clunky

A large lag between entering data and it appearing on the screen.

Additionally the sign up process has fallen over three times at the password stage - so far.

Not built for this amount of traffic? (already)

Further to this - a complete fail here.

Fell over again at the 'Use fingerprint' stage.

Now can't start process again as phone number already registered.

If this is as good as Kroo gets I'll stick with Cynergy for now.
