Hi.  Does anyone know if Santander are going to update their ESaver (now miserable) rate from 2.75% ?
Nope, the rate was fixed for 1 year I think. Despite not market leading anymore it offers incredible speed and flexibility 24/7 although I had a real nightmare until all was up and running and they blocked some larger moves at the beginning but now all is fine and still good to park funds here and there for a few days or even just over night sometimes.

At 3.25% PA I am assuming the Coventry account is as good as it gets?

The eSaver Special Edition's interest rate is actually variable - the 12 month term just refers to the amount of time you can hold the account before it reverts to a standard savings account.

Once you have maxed out regular savers which allow withdrawals and barclays rainy day saver.

YBS had a slightly better interest rate, but with even more restrictions than the Coventry six access but it's no longer available.

Although the Coventry account isn't either..

  • A quick query for anyone who's opened one of the Coventry BS Online 6 saver things (without already having an account with them).

I've had the forms through in the post after filling the the application form in on their website about 2 weeks back.
I'm still waiting since applying over 3 weeks ago. Did you get an email? I only had an on screen message to wait 'a few days' for the paperwork.
Check your online account. My new account was there the following day despite no acknowledgement email.

According to moneyfacts, Coventry will be launching a new limited access saver (Issue 7) at 2.85%.
    Min deposit £1
    Max deposit £250k
Allows 6 penalty free withdrawals per year.

You don't even need £1 in it. I've kept 1p in it for months and it's been fine.

I didn't bother to close my previous issue of the account and it's been happily sitting there with zero balance for many months.

So if you run the Al Rayan balance down to £0 they won't close the account? Anyone tried it? Ideally want to take all the money out and keep the account open, just in case they increase the interest rate back to a rate leading rate.
Mine is at zero, they haven't closed it nor have I requested them to. Who knows what tomorrow may bring.
