I've switched several where I've said there is no debit card and they all worked.
Was there a balance on the debit card?
Which bank was it?
Maybe just lucky as Santander switch team made it crystal clear on one occasion that if a debit card has been issued, card number must be quoted and must wait till card arrives when new account has been opened, that was a call I made when I had relevant card(s)
Re post before my earlier post, you asked which Bank it was being as new card needed activating likely to be Tesco or HSBC, if I was guessing would guess Tesco.0 -
TESCO BANK have informed us that they cannot provide this information. Under the Current Account Switch Service, Service Conditions we have therefore had to stop the switch to your Santander current account. We have detailed in the table below what you need to do to enable us to start the switching of your current account again. In the meantime, your existing payments may continue to be paid from your old bank. Please make sure that you have enough money in your TESCO BANK account to cover your regular payments.
Reason your switch has been stopped
Your debit card number on your old account does not match our records
Switching code received from your old bank
XXXX
What you need to do next
Please call us on 0845 609 0010 with your old bank account details. Lines are open from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 2pm on Saturdays.
I received the above information in an email from Santander.
I'm switching from Tesco as per info above0 -
Best thing is to ring Santander say what happened and that you have a new card which has been activated and that you wish to continue with the switch, will be for them to say if switch needs to be restarted, phone call is required in any event.0

"TESCO BANK have informed us that they cannot provide this information.."
Is there more before this? What information?
And:
"Your debit card number on your old account does not match our records."
It reads like an incorrect debit card number has been provided, albeit could be a standard statement.
I have 2 Tesco switches, no debit card declared, due to complete 28th. Lets see if that goes through. And 2 more due 30th May which may need attention...0 -
If switches go through without debit card number etc being quoted then is pure luck, someone I know had switch rejected due to Tesco debit card not being activated- Card number was quoted.

If a card has been issued (or is "in the post" for a new account) then the card number must be quoted correctly for a successful switch.0 -
Thanks.
I am sorry, I should go on a MSE forum course. Do you mean the board? They said they are very busy and it would be fairer to try and get help in the forum.
Cisko - am not what sure what board is very busy!
The reference to the board was to the referrers part of the forum - and you've posted your request there.
Note that you need to actually request via a private message,, not in the way you have done on the referrers board.0
