I said 'at least' 5 times, £500? I think you are talking long haul, I am thinking Spain, for a long haul flight, yes I would pay a lot more.

To answer OP: I would love to but it doesn't sound practical.

We flew to the Scilly isles last year . You can take a dog in the cabin of the small plane.

There are single seats on one side of the cabin and double seats on the other side.

One row of double seats is removed and there is a large cage measuring 90cm X 60cm X 60cm fitted in the space. The dog owners are seated in the row of double seats facing the cage.

Only one large dog or two small dogs are allowed on each flight.

The cost is £40

Yeah someone told me about that last year, I'm still trying to convince my wife that it would be a good holiday destination, but we were really looking for winter holidays. Did you enjoy it there? It is a pity that they don't fly to other destinations.

No, but then most sensible people wouldn't have dogs with them on a plane. Nor was the discussion about assistance dogs, of which there are very few. Assistance dogs are well-trained and do not need to be caged in the part of a plane designed to carry humans. They are trained to lie at their owner's feet and not wee everywhere or bark unnecessarily, or otherwise make a nuisance of themselves. Your OP was about pet dogs being taken abroad on holiday, and suggesting major construction changes to a plane to accommodate them.

Lots of people take small dogs on holiday, a number of airlines (see my post below) allow them in the cabin (and they are not even segregated, they go under the seat). Even large dogs are allowed on flights to the Scilly Isles, are you saying all those people who travelled with their dog in the cabin are not sensible?

Not major construction changes, only taking out two rows of seats and inserting an internal wall.

In my 30 years of flying to various destinations I have never been on a plane where a dog has been on it.....nor have I seen any at an airport (except police/customs dogs).
