Dogs on planes (in the cabin)

The so what is, you said, lots of people take dogs on planes, it’s clearly not the case.
Do you often end a line with, so what, when you are talking to people
Hasn't it dawned on you yet, that just as much as I will not change your views, you aren't going to change mine either. I'd like to see dogs allowed in planes, you wouldn't, why go on?
Enough people fly with their dogs for all those airlines that I listed to have a policy that allows them to do so. In the link below you will see that a list (not all) of american airlines transported over 506,000 dogs in one year (including in the hold and assistance dogs), so imagine what the total worldwide figure would be, are you really going to argue that the number in the cabin wouldn't be 'a lot'?

Would any dog owners pay for this? I certainly would.
Maybe take it to the airlines, although my own personal opinion is that you're on a hiding to nothing,0 -

They vast majority of those flights were probably domestic. International flights bring in a whole new ball game for airlines as has been alluded to. Diversions, delays etc.
Pet passports are only good for the EU (up to March 29. What happens after is anybodies guess) for anywhere else then proper quarantine measures must be used which means that animals go via the quarantine centres at each end and wouldn't be allowed in the cabin. (Assistance dogs being the exception)0 -

They trial one plane with as many dog passengers as they can get, it is a small cost to find a potential profit increase. Worst case scenario is that if doesn't do well, they have only lost a few seats on flights that probably wouldn't be 100% booked anyway.
When Brittany Ferries trailed dog cabins, they never looked back. If you don't book on the first two days of dog cabins being available for the next 6 months, just forget it, they will be all gone. Last year we had to switch our winter holiday from December to April, because we left it until the third day, and they were all booked up.
There is no serious competition for any airline that tries it out, we did consider private jets, but although we can afford it, it is excessive at about £30k return flight to Spain (for just one of us taking my dog, and either my wife or me getting a normal flight). On private jets you simply walk on the jet with your dog and keep your dog on a lead. Your dog sits on the floor next to you.
I can see you aren't a businessman ,who would be covering the potential lost in revenue ?
It would be extremely stressful for the dog , it wouldn't just be for the length of the flight , there is the whole faff beforehand after a flight and unless the dogs are able to withold bladder and bowel movements for hours the smell will be horrendous . Plus allegeries, pet hair will be present on those planes despite cleaning.
How would deal with an emergency landing and exit ? Trying to get people out would be challenging enoughVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -

You couldn't deal with an emergency landing, that's why it wouldn't work, as I said above it was just wishful thinking.
I have built up 3 businesses in my life (2 now sold), I have just started the process of selling the remaining one, that is why we are worth about £6.5m. So I would argue that I have done well from my business acumen. This was not a business plan, it was a combination of wishful thinking and wondering if there was some demand out there. Although I now realise of course, that a dog forum would have been a far better place to find that out.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

Maybe you have a vivid imagination but why 'imagine' when the facts are available?
There were over 15 million airline flights in USA last year so that is 1 dog every 30 flights, with 29 of them having no dogs. If a flight had 3 dogs on it then there were 90-odd with no dogs.
Hardly 'a lot'.

If its only on "some" planes what happens if there is a technical issue that means it's swapped out for a plane without the ability to take dogs....? Going to be a lot of upset travellers...
It's a reasonable idea but the practicalities need a lot of thought! I like the idea of childless flights too (and I have a 5year old).Thinking critically since 1996....0 -

It wouldn't work anyway, because of the evacuation procedures required in the event of an emergency, I was merely exploring my wishful thinking that I would like to fly with my dog abroad, rather than get there by car and car ferry (as I have done in the past). There would only be two realistic ways of achieving that, either by private jet or a car ferry for the entire journey (which would mean Northern Spain, which we may consider but the weather isn't great there during the winter months, it's rain (rather than the cold) that I dislike the most, as I (we) like to hike, run and cycle with my dog).Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

Not because of the emergency evacuation but because of a lot of other commercial and non-commercial reasons. Commercially - not viable, Operationally - not viable, for the vast majority of those who fly, not deemed necessary.
Glad the penny finally dropped.0
