    Glad your dad's back home.

I do WW I love it. Been a gold member for 17 years, it works for me. Good luck with it :)

  • Thanks jwill, Sun Addict and tea for 2 for stopping by.

This month is still going well money wise. I will do a full round up at the weekend when I have access to DH's phone. As I am so rubbish at times with money I only have some banking apps on his phone so I can't transfer money willy nilly. My financial month starts on the 20th so this weekend will be a good time to see where we are before the new month starts. The only money outstanding will be £250 outstanding from the mortgage which I have until the 29th to pay which is doable - working hard on my side hustles has paid off. A friend also asked for a Nationwide referral so I should have £100 coming to me which I wasn't expecting - surely free money is the best? I will also be getting a full months salary this month but next month is questionable.

I know I haven't many readers but those who do drop by can anyone recommend a savings account. We need an emergency fund but ideally i would like one that I don't have easy access to so I have to make an effort to get to it. I don't really want an online one but if I had to make an effort to go into a branch to get the money it is more likely to stay in tact and only get raided when really needed.

I also lost 2lbs at WW - not a huge amount for a first week but I had 3 social events planned and I got quite drunk at one and dad ended up back in hospital for 5 days so meals I planned to cook didn't get done as I didn't have time but I did my best!

Something with chicken tonight I think. Oldest wants noodles and youngest wants Yorkshire puddings - not a combination that goes well together. My youngest would live on white chicken, Yorkshire puddings, carrots and gravy if I let him. He thinks all meat is chicken but white chicken is his favourite!! :rotfl:

Hope everyone is managing to stay upright and fairly dry in this weather we are having!

    xx

    Hello BB50

I recall you posting on my diary that you had lost a stone and a half on the low blood sugar diet last year. I was wondering where you were so had a little hunt around. Having found and read your diary this morning, please can I join in and suggest a few things?

First thing is to add a link into your signature to your diary - then more people will join you with encouragement :kisses3:

Regarding a savings account, I am going into my local town in an hour to open a TSB account which I must put £500 a month into (it does not have to stay there) - then it will pay me 5% on my balance up to £1500. I am going to try for one for me, and one for us jointly. This might work for your savings pots?

I know you have been struggling with your mortgage payments and I wanted to say that this is one of the most important things to earmark for payment. After you have sorted your current payment plan, I really think it needs to be top of your list and the timing of it going out should be a DD on the day after pay-day (22nd will make sure you have the money there, even if it is moved from elsewhere), so it takes precedence.

Do you have access to a computer or are you a tablet and phone app girl? I really recommend you get a spreadsheet going with your obligations, the date in the month they go and how much they are. Do you have software? A basic budget spreadsheet is available on slowlyfading's Frugal Cottage website - I could post a link if you are interested. I have one with several tabs, including my annual things and dates, which accounts and so on.

Have you done an SOA? We might be able to help more if we can see where it is going.

I hope your Dad is OK. The weather is pretty awful here in Suffolk today, isn't it?! I will stop there but I have subscribed.

Well done on the weight loss.

I'd live on chicken, yorkshire pudding, carrots and gravy too :D:D

I can't recommend any savings accounts, as mine are all currently linked to my current accounts. The Post office might be an option given that banks are closing branches all over the place.

Morning BB50 :) Sorry, I'm going to be no help at all regarding savings accounts but didn't want you to think I've ignored your question.

I love that your DS thinks all meat is chicken bless him. I have a fussy lad who will only eat sausages, chicken and steak  so that means he lives on sausages and chicken :rotfl:

Well done on the weight loss, every llb off is better than a llb on :T xx

Hi Suffolk Lass thank you for stopping by.

    Absolutely - that's why I started a diary!

First thing is to add a link into your signature to your diary - then more people will join you with encouragement :kisses3: Will do that. I guess I am still feeling a bit unsure of myself on here :)

You are absolutely right. I would like to get a new deal but feel that won't happen until we pay consistently on time. Our LTV is about 60%so that's good I think

I have a laptop and am quite proficient with Excel however I am a paper and pen girl. I use a filofax (showing my age :rotfl:) and I have a finance section that I use all the time with monthly budgets. I have just bought a project pad to record all my debt payments in. Seeing it in black and white is quite sobering

Have you done an SOA? We might be able to help more if we can see where it is going.
I have spent the evening number crunching as your post has been on my mind for the last couple of days and i knew i had to respond :o

Dad is much better thanks and I am fed up of getting wet on the school run!

Thank you so much for subscribing - i have learnt lots from your diary.

Sounds like you and my 4yr old have lots in common :rotfl: We do have that for tea at least once a week as its one meal everyone will eat! Plus roast potatoes and another veg!!

I think the PO is a good idea or just be more disciplined.

I have found your diarie(s) and will be catching up on them!!

Thanks tea - I love how supportive you are on everybody's diaries and I really appreciate your support on mine.:T

Children! Were we allowed to be that fussy? My 6yr old won't eat gravy or anything in a sauce but is great with fruit and veg! One day I will cook a meal that all 4 of us will eat :rotfl:

Why don't you just open an internet saver for now and then maybe consider one of the high interest current accounts like TSB when you have more money in it? They require a certain number of direct debits and funding requirements although the money does not have to stay there but not easy juggling money when you don't have any.

Not sure where you bank but Tesco internet saver pays around 1.4% and I think the Post office is similar rates. A lot of people are raving about Marcus but not sure if there is a minimum. Check best savings accounts on this site.

Sorry, just seen you don't want internet saver. Post Office then I guess.
