Hello Balance
Glad you've started a diary - it will help you keep on the straight and narrow.
Sorry to hear your dad is unwell, hope he recovers quickly. Hospital visiting is an expensive business, Mr SA was in hospital for 9 months 6 years ago so I'm an experienced hospital visitor to say the least.
Keep chipping away at sorting out your finances, it takes ages to get straight but every little step you take is a step in the right direction.

Sorry to hear about your dad , I hope he is improving. I am lucky I live a couple of minutes from our local hospital , it has been worth it the past few years, just having to walk over the road. Parking and buying food can soon add up.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Sorry to hear about your Dad being admitted to hospital. Hope he's home again soon.
You have lots of nice things lined up for the half term. I used to do similar to you - a paid for treat like the cinema and then offset that with something that was free.
Have a lovely week. xx0 -

Thanks Cumbria he came home at 8pm last night. It was his second admission in a week. I just get frustrated as they treat the symptoms but aren't finding out what's causing the problem. It's a 35 min drive or 1.5 hrs on two buses for my poor stepmum who doesn't drive. It must be so handy living near to a local hospital xx0 -

I hope my boys appreciate this week - it's such a balancing act isn't it between totally spoiling them and keeping them entertained. Our local libraries are always in danger of being closed so they are offering some great activities now. Is your D'S in half term? I guess he's a little old to want entertaining now? Have a lovely week xx0 -
So glad to hear your Dad is back home and your step mum doesn't have to travel to visit him. We're pretty lucky with hospitals. Being in Greater Manchester we usually have a choice of 3 'local' ones to go at and that's before they think about the city centre ones.
Yes, DS is on half term and I remembered he gets an extra day on Monday as well as it's teacher training or whatever it's called these days. It's definitely a balancing act but like you I used the local library quite a bit. DS is definitely too old for what they offer now but they do all sorts, story time, craft afternoons, lego club, coding lessons etc. It really is good what they put on and it's all free, but you do have to be quick off the mark and get your name down.
Have a lovely week with your boys. xx0 -
Ooops was doing so well with my diary and then real life got in the way.
Had a good half term with the boys and kept spending to a minimum. Got paid even less than I expected but paid everything except the mortgage but have a six week payment plan set up and I am currently £30 ahead on that.
Dad is still poorly but at home - popping in lots to see him.
And big news I have had two yes TWO no spend days in a row. This has never ever happened for me. I rejoined WW (for the zillionth time on Monday) so am planning all my meals and eating from home. When I am in control of one area of my life I tend to be in control of lots of others too.
Also I will be getting paid in full in March so chance to get on top of stuff.

Good to hear you enjoyed half term. Sorry to hear your Dad still isn't too good, but at least he's in the comfort of his own home.
Well done on the NSD's. I've just got on the scales and I really need to start a plan of action but first I need to eat a bowl of honey nut loops :rotfl: Tomorrow I'm on a missionxx
