Today's list:
Put some items away in loft / eaves cupboard Thought this was done, but just spotted a box on the dining room floor
Check banks /update spreadsheet Spreadsheet still to do
Triage fridge Done, cooked and mashed some elderly sweet potatoes, froze half a tin of sweetcorn and chopped and froze half a yellow pepper and some ham
Bake some blueberry muffins - got 2 decent sized punnets of blueberries from the market yesterday for £1
Done
Make soup Done, curried parsnip
Items to sales unit and tidy up Done, sold a small item while I was there
Clean bathroom floor Not done
Sow some more seed for microgreens in the conservatory, may do some sprouting seeds as well
It is really too early to sow anything else apart from chillis, despite the nice weather
Different if you have a decent sized greenhouse with a bit of heat, but I don't any more. Not yet
Wash grubby coat and line dry Nor this - I can see most of my list for tomorrow :rotfl:
Got fish out of freezer for tonight Cut a large YS plaice fillet from freezer in two, floured, egged and breadcrumbed the portions, and OH and I had this with peas and HM oven chips
Received a £5 shopping voucher from RM surveys for taking part in an additional survey :j
On a slightly less positive note, had a phone call from the doctor telling me that I need more tests
Happy Friday everyone

Morning all.
DawnW. You have just inspired me to take a walk to the market and look for fruit in a minute. I always forget it is on on a Friday!
ILL: My exam was cancelled due to snow, but I wasn't overly bothered. I can re-schedule for June, but by then I will have moved on so much that I'm not sure I'll bother. (This is for last years' course). You can't actually 'fail' it as such, and it is £20 so I might save the money.
A 4am start for me this morning, taking my mum for her knee replacement, which is a 2 hour drive. Just got back. I took a flask of tea for the drive and snacks in case I had to wait longer. I was tempted to look for breakfast but the canteen was shut and the coffee vending machine didn't look too tempting, so spending was avoided. :money: (I was also very excited to pass a Waitrose, which is unheard of round these parts. Mum suggested I stop there on the way back for a coffee/cake. I set the sat-nav to avoid the town so I wouldn't give in! Little victories, and a far cry from a few months ago when I wouldn't think twice
)
A lovely sunny day, so a quick wash is on. It's a bit late, but I hope will dry mostly on the line.
Still to do:
Drink coffee - Well, tea
Online banking/reconcile Done, on budget so far
Walk to the market (5 minutes away) and see if I can find anything nice to bake with, ala DawnW
Met up with DH and we bought jacket potatoes for dinner and blueberries/raspberries. Then wandered down to Aldee and bought many packets of reduced heart-shaped chocolate brioche for the freezer!
Back afterschool snack - see above Still deciding
Clean front roomNot going to happen!
Find something for tea Jacket spuds
Afternoon snooze as still feeling a bit rough Might snooze after school run with kids/telly
Look at our unused DVD/book/CD stash and see if Lifft (?) are interested. (I've not tried it before)
Go over budget with DS to see where belt-tightening can happen, in readiness for job-loss.
Recruitment agency have put him forward for a job - fingers crossed the belt-tightening will be temporary!!
Happy Kitties She's all well, all done and will be staying for a couple of nights at least.0 -
Hope everything goes okay with ur mum chasingthewelshdreamand u are feeling better aswell
Few spends today for DDs and DSil birthdays. DD has most of her presents at uni with her ready to open next week, this will be her main present from me and her cat which would be more hassle than it's worth if it had gone with her as it would have to come straight back home......and it's on special offer so I'm happy:)
With sorting DSil presents early-I will avoid postage as seeing them next week
It has been so so good to have the windows open the past 2 days and give the house a good airing. Heating is only kicking in, in the evenings now:T
Washing also on the line
Sent more charity items (these are my neutral declutter items) using RM stamps.
Waited again for the DW to be full before putting it on
Checked quidco:A
Banking all checked-everything good
That's about it from me......going to get stuck into some very low level HW:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Have a good Friday everyone xDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Afternoon all, A late check in from me as we've been finishing off in the other house ready for the new tenant to move in this afternoon.
In the way of small things
:A usual breakfast savings
:A gym done to make the most of my membership
:A Charity shop rang to say they could collect this morning instead of afternoon, great I thought only for them to get here and measure the leather sofa and say it was too big, a bed & 2 glass tv stands they didn't want as they have lots of them already, so in the end they only took my high gloss black unit and a mini twin tub washing machine.
:A So after ^^ I put the sofa up on gumtree/freecycle/fb for free and after lots of fb enquiries hopefully I have someone coming to collect tomorrow morning
:A Took the bed frame apart, stored the wood in my garage (we don't often get rid of wood as you never know what it might come in handy - my fathers daughter!) & mattress to the tip, along with lots of picture frames that had been in the loft for years, some bins, a freezer that all went into the tip "shop"
:A The glass tv stands have been stood on top of each other in the garage and I will use them as shelving for the time being - and to the tip shop if they're not practical.
:A Washed 2 loads on the quick 30 degree wash and hung out on the line (will go and see if they're dry next)
:A All meals from stores as there is plenty of last nights curry left and for the kids its pizza Friday out of the freezer anyway
I think thats about it, I should just check my banking and then straighten up the house a bit before settling down for the evening.
Take care all. xSticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Evening
I was awol yesterday celebrating valentines day with oh...he had the choice of any tea he wanted as a treat and he chose corned beef hash...gotta be one of the cheapest meals ever too lol anyway we had a lovely evening chilling and just spending time with each other defo better than a meal out!:j
Anyway i am very proud of myself...i have just realised i have spent nothing at all today...its becoming such a way of life im not expecting to spend anything now
Did food shop yest got everything except hash browns (im sure there is an easy way to make them save buying i will investigate unless anyone knows any recipes) and frozen peas but thats all i need for the week!! Dd school broke up today so shopping was a bit more this week for meals for next week when oh is off and shes at home!!

Morning all :hello: it's the weekend
we are planning on being at home but have a list of jobs that I need to do to be productive:
Get some stuff up in the loft
Sort a tip pile, probably won't take as we don't have DH car but if it's ready that's a good start
List a couple of things on fleabay
Smalls to prepaid activities
DH and I go for a run
Try and get out In the garden, I have a couple of jobs that need doing and a general tidy up won't hurt
Check banking
Make sure payment has arrived at just for points cc - talking of which -Foxgloves do you know when the next set of vouchers are due for the JL card, says 'February' on their website, just wondering as we'd ideally like them for a purchase we will be buying next week end.
Make a note of some calls I need to make on Monday, including 1 for an insurance refund.
Have a good day everyone. Purps.0 -
Hi everyone
Newbie to the thread, but I've been lurking on and off for years! We're living with my parents at the moment, so my usual DFW things don't really apply and I'm a bit lost.
Today we are off to my sister in law's for a play date and lunch; usually at the weekend we would be spending on activities, lunches and coffees, so this makes a nice frugal change! Then we'll pop in to see mum in law on the way back. I'll take my own milk so we can have coffees
We try to go out for the day at weekends as otherwise we all get on top of each other, but it is costing us a lot, so I've been trying to think of ways to make this cheaper.

Hello

Welcome to Pauper1
Expecting to be invaded by DD + kids any minute, so thought I would post quickly
Today looks like this:
Quick tidy round indoors
Put some stuff away in the garage
Did a few small jobs in the garden
Will be parsnip soup made yesterday for lunch
And blueberry muffins for snacks
Looking after baby GS this afternoon while DD takes GD to a party - we will go and feed the ducks I think!
Sausages and the sweet potato mash I made during yesterday's fridge sort out for dinner
Must pay the milk bill later but no other spending intended
Must also email plumber as they have sent a reminder re boiler service being due.
Hope CCL has a great holiday - I think she was heading off this morning?0 -
Afternoon all,
I'd forgotten about CCL going away this week as our half term isn't until next week, I hope they have a lovely time. Dnms is away too isn't she?
Welcome to Pauper, its a great thread, I hope you stick with us.
Waiting for someone to collect a free sofa that I put on fb yesterday, reminds me why I take everything to the charity shop!! Meant to be here at 10, then lies lies lies telling me van trouble/on way/nearly there etc til I say (at 1pm) thats its going back on fb as available at 1.15pm and they arrive at 1.15 - at least its gone but my anxiety levels have been through the roof all morning
Dh is now cooking us some oven chips, going to have chip butty and cuddle up to watch a film to try and relax.
Other then that we popped out first thing to m&s food to pick up a couple of treaty bits (using m&s giftcard which we got for switching banks) so no actual cash spent
We've run the dishwasher on the quick wash
Switched all sockets off that we don't need (we don't need to see the time on the oven or microwave for example)
Thats about it, just a chilling afternoon I hope!
Take care allSticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.
