Hi Monday Money Savers,
Have been achieving on the frugal front so far today:
*8 x 50ps paid into my sealed pot.
*Made bread (just on its 2nd proving)
*Did rubber chicken. It did roast dinner yesterday, will do cold chicken, chunky home made jacket chips & salad tonight & fajhitas tomorrow. Also froze what was left for stew & curry and the carcass is in the slow cooker for stock. The magpies & starlings enjoyed the skin cut up into pieces. Think they thought it was extra tasty worms!
*Did laundry overnight on Economy 7 tariff & reloaded for same again tonight.
*Did my Monday morning budget update & banking.
*Paid off a credit card in full.
*Entered 2 prize draws.
*Filing & tidying.
*Found relevant car docs. Our horrendous car issue may be sorted out this week, so thought I'd be ready with log book, insurance details, etc....the saga took an even more surreal turn at the end of last week, so I shan't believe it is sorted out until replacement vehicle is sitting on our drive.
*Dealt with legal documents concerning my parents' estate & booked telephone meeting with solicitor, which saves us a 150-mile round trip.
*Agreed with mr f that we won't buy Valentine's cards this year, but will use the money we'd have spent on them to enjoy a nice cake & coffee when we go out at the weekend.
*Added another pile of free recycled packaging/envelopes to my stash.
*Perused latest energy bill. Don't think we've ever had such a high one. We're not profligate with energy, but a quick trot around the house did find 3 things which could be turned down or off until the cheap overnight tariff, so I will compare with past bills for the same quarter when I get time to do it properly. Account still in credit (just!) but I like to see it higher than that so will be investigating. Unit prices have increased though.
*Make packed lunch - not yet done as mr f said he doesn't know if he's having soup or not, so he can make that earth shattering decision when he gets in!
*Re-listed 3 ebay items.
*Made 10 nice gift tags from a pile of bits & pieces which had been sitting on my desk for ages.
*Did 4 annoying jobs.
Quite pleased with that lot.
F x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -

Welcome Emzmum88 it's a great thread that keeps me on the straight and narrow
1LL glad u managed to get some sleep and the tenant problem seems to be sorting itself. Nothing worse than when u have something playing on ur mind. I can never sleep then. I dont know how u and foxgloves manage to fly thru ur lists!
Today has been productive:)
Banking all checked
Even remembered to check quidco without Ally's list reminding me
I had packaged up 4 parcels yesterday. 3 were sent today using RM stamps.
Parcel number 4 was overweight and popping out of its packaging so brought that back home for a dissection and a repackage. Will be sent tomorrow. These have freed up some space of neutral declutter items.
Also managed to declutter a few more things.
Hopefully will find 2 more boxes this week to send a few more items.
Tidy round downstairs and managed to get floor mopped
Still eating from freezer and cupboards. Using up loads of bits
Dodging some paperwork.....must do tonight!Decluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Evening all

Hoping for the best, as I wrote a long post yesterday evening and my laptop decided to play up and I lost it
Anyway, welcome to Emzmom, and hugs to those who need them.
Went to the hospital this morning for a CT scan. That wasn't a very pleasant experience. I thought it would be like an xray, but I had to have some dye injected beforehand and it made me feel very odd  Anyway, done now, hoping it comes back with nothing at all! Only spend today was for parking :T
Apart from that:
Load of washing that I pegged out on the line, and it was nearly dry when I got it in :j
Finished off some leftover soft cheese with crackers for lunch
Cold ham from the joint cooked yesterday for dinner, with HM coleslaw and jacket potatoes
Took some items to sales unit after lunch, and restocked. Still need to put away a few bits that I bought back though.
OH hoovered the lounge and dining room while I was out :T
Sowed some seeds for micro greens in my new propagator :j
New stair carpet was completed / partially redone this afternoon after previous rude sweary man messed it up  I am happy to report that the man who came today was polite / normal and did a good job :T I will need to pay the bill for this once I receive it.
Wood burner is lit, with kettle on top for 'free' tea
Started a shopping list, will probably go later in the week.
Still need to check banks / update spreadsheet and put the almost dry washing on the airer to finish off,0 -
Yesterday was not a good DFW day as i Paid a total of £80 for GCSE son to visit uni son, that is his entertainment for the half term though so hope they have a good time and doesn't get into trouble.
I am new to this website and this thread. But have recently cut hundreds off bills by tweaking, cutting, complaining and being slightly mean. Last week cut off cable (now only broadband) and am now working out how to watch tv without, will try to get freeview or an antenna.
Still not quite sure where to put what questions on this forum, but am building up to lightbulb moment, but as a single parent with one son 1.year at uni and one doing gcse's and most family living in 'Europe' getting to a point where I'm not topping up income with credit card debt has been hard.
That said have decided to power through credit card debt, prove bank wrong and go debt free in 5 years.
Am in the middle of car buying as old car was deemed unrepairable by insurance company, and I am 'at fault' as the truck who dropped a ladder in under my car did not stop and there were no witnesses. So will have to face massive insurance hike next December.
Am trying to buy 2011 Skoda Fabia as has great driving economy and I drive about 50 miles a day for work.
Is everybody on here working? I struggle to get a full time job, but now finally have topped up my 0.6 contract with a day of hourly teaching and a day of cover work through an agency, so i will be OK until the dreaded summer.
In the small things department I spent 4.50 parking at the hospital as was late for light treatment, usually pay 1.80 and walk 4 minutes.
On the good side, I did not stop on the way home for a fatty snack even though I was very hungry, stuck with snacking on what was in the fridge, as well as the rest of HM chili that I left out for son to eat before he went of to see brother.
Am trying to limit spending money to 1 day a week on Saturdays when I go grocery shopping etc.
Will try to limit spending for rest of month to £100 for groceries for 2 people, a dinner party and gas. So tomorrow night will be making strict shopping list, which includes room for a few homemade treats.
It's 2 weeks since car accident, neighbour has sponsored my driving to work in their spare car, so started overhauling their car yesterday, as it had no oil, screen wash or air in tyres. And I have already put 500 miles on it. The world is full of kind and friendly people.
My mom will lend me money for the new old car, as I did not get much from insurance for scrapped car, but money makes me very anxious, and now I just want to get it settled.
Will keep posting unless i get weird responses to this post.
Have written down everything I have bought paid for for a year and a half, but have still managed to increase debt, this now has to stop. So a, hoping to be a regular here. Thanks for all inspirational posts.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

Hey ditty welcome to the thread. We're a lovely friendly bunch (even if I say so myself
) you seemed to have made a great start.
My list for today:
Two items I sewed up last night being used by their owners
Cheap frozen fruit for breakie
Big stew in sc to feed us all and some extended family tonight
More washing [eye roll]
See if I can do some research on an issue that is causing anxiety and stresses that I don't think it should. Maybe see if a work referral thing might help
Go for a run
Smalls to prepaid activities
Continue to use up fruit mountain
Check banking, have worked out it'll save us about £400 if I move remaining small balance on loan to money transfer card. Will Make a note in diary of when to do it as I won't need to do it for a couple of weeks
Think that's about it for today. Purps.0 -

Morning all & welcome Ditty, this is a lovely friendly thread so I hope you stick with us.
Dawn, Hope you're feeling better today and that the results come through quickly for you.
I didn't wake til 4am today which was a big impovement on yesterday but I'm ready for everything to be back on an even keel.
Todays list
* breakfast arrangements as usual ds1 had ys bread with his eggs, ds2 to free school breakfast club and I had the last crumpet.
* gym session done to make the most of my membership and refilled water bottle there twice
* aldee with my list as I decided not to go yesterday afternoon as I knew I was feeling low and I would probably have spent £10 on junk food which wouldn't have made me feel any better anyway. Stuck to this mornings list
* washed a load of bedding and hung it on the line (first load out of the year!) - will see if it dries
Still to do
** check banking/update spreadsheets and email back to myself
** empty dishwasher Done
** washing away off the radiators, without ironing any of it. Done
** clean kitchen using stardrops/washable cloths (this is my next job as we've been cleaning oven racks and hob parts from the other house in my sink and the kitchen looks such a mess now) Done
** make families lunches for tomorrow
** tea tonight is leftover jambalya - kids loved it
** share bath water and continue using up lotions and potions
** cooking two chickens at once and will share between my parents and us -Done
** reclaimed the head and foot of a metal framed bed from other house, rather then sending to the tip will use them with my garden as plant supports around the fences instead.
Small list to start with and hopefully I'll get more added as the day goes on.
Take care allSticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.
