  • Quick post from me as I’m on my phone. Hope everyone is feeling ok. Virtual hugs to those that need them (and those that don’t too :D)

    My list for today:
Make a list of things I need to do before we have some workman here and plan when I can feasibly do them.
Check banking, paid cash back to cc
    Apply for something online
No overspending on commercialised days here ;) will get something out of freezer for tea :D
A load of washing, will try to peg out - which reminds me a need to order a new line spike as I need to move it and won’t be able to get current one out
Try and go for run if I have time although timing will be tight

Have a good day everyone. Purps.
  • Hugs to the poorlies and those whose get up and go has gone, hopefully u manage to get it back(easier than it sounds I know)
Not much from me, need to pop out for some basics this morning.
Been in some meetings the last couple of days, really hard as all I want to do is fall into bed. Dozed off at 7pm last night, trouble is i always seem to wake like i did last night at 10pm and then cant get back to sleep.
Managed to get the paperwork I was doing done......so happy
    4th parcel was sent
RM surveys-have been keeping up to date
    Banking all checked, everything good
As soon as I started reading the thread, it reminded me to check quidco-I always forget!
Nearly went thru a drive thru after a meeting Tues night. Was so tempted but didnt. Came home and had use ups which were so good.
Still eating out of the freezer and cupboards
DW just about to go on. Could of put it on last night but wasnt full so hand washed cat bowls needed for today and will pop it on now that it is full
Not sure what else I will be up to today.

Have a good day everyone x

  • Hello and welcome ditty1234

You asked if we all work, I'm not in paid employment, I home educate our children, OH works full time. It is an arrangement that works for us, we prioritised our children's education over my income.

Well done on not buying a snack. I try hard to not need to buy snacks whilst out, by carrying some emergency rations with me, which in my case is a mixture of nuts, seeds & dried fruit. You can buy snack size packets which are handy to keep in your bag/pocket/glove box but the cost soon mounts up if you are using them regularly. I have some small pots which I fill from larger bags.
I never leave the house without taking a drink with me, usually my water bottle, as I find being able to drink stops me feeling hungry so quickly.
Also if I know I am going to be out of the house for a while and it will mean I will end hungry I try and plan, the majority of the time it will be by taking food with me, maybe fruit, snacks or a whole meal other times the plan involves taking something and supplementing with something I've bought and occasionally we will buy the whole meal.
By planning I find we can make healthier and generally cheaper choices.

How frustrating about you needing to replace your car. I hope the new one lasts many years and causes no problems.

    Morning all,
Its a beautiful looking day out there, blue sky and very calm (I'd like a bit more breeze however as I have my towels out on the line!)

    Todays list
    * Happy Valentine's day - but no cards or gifts bought here either.
    * Washed two loads of towels and hung out on the line to (hopefully) dry
    * Usual breakfast arrangements - ys bread & eggs for ds1 / ds2 to free school breakfast club
    * Gym session done and refilled water bottle - gym is £16 a month and I usually do 5 classes a week so less then 80p a class :)
    * Brunch at home with my dad after the gym, he brought left overs for us to have. He's also been sorting out his cupboards and brought me a jar of horseradish & a jar of mint sauce, BBE of Feb but he already has another jar of each plus what was in his fridge so has given it to us.
    * Took a pair of boots back to mr t for a refund as I've realised that I don't love them since buying at the weekend as I hadn't even looked at them since or taken the labels off so £15 back in my bank. Also bought milk and peanut butter whilst in there and used a gift card that Mr T sent me after I emailed to complain about 2 boxes of duck spring rolls that 12 in the box rather then 14

    Still to do
    * Boiler man is coming to put my boiler back together properly, when I had the problems with it at the end of last year they've not put the casing back on right, so whilst he's coming to do Landlord gas certificates at the rental he'll come and sort this out for me - no charge DONE
    * check banking /update spreadsheet & email back to myself
    * Make a shopping list for tomorrow as I need to buy a couple of gifts for two people who are unexpectedly leaving.
    * All meals from stores
    * No heating on until the kids are home at the earliest
    * Do some more research about something thats been prying on my mind during these restless nights I've been having
    * Make families lunches for tomorrow
    * Spot clean carpets
** Padded out the curry I made yesterday as we have a couple of extra mouths to feed tonight and saves me giving in to a take out later - added in some mushrooms, potatoes peppers, onions and a tin of tomatoes - tastes even better then it did too :D
** My dads been out pottering in my garden and moving "free" plants that have self seeded etc he doesn't have a garden anymore and likes pottering in mine :)
** Currently on the hob, I'm reducing chicken stock so that it will fit in the freezer

Thats my start, take care all.
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.
  • Afternoon all.

Nothing much today. In fact, nothing. I've been completely out of it with tonsillitis since yesterday pm and have just resurfaced into the land of the living! I get it regularly and am completely knocked for six each time. Penicillin has started to kick in now, so I'm hoping to be back to normal by the weekend.

A lot of stress over DH job ending at the end of March doesn't help I think as neither of us has been getting much sleep.

DH has put a load of washing outside in the sun, so hoping that dries. Heating has been off all day and I'm snuggled with HWB and a duvet, dozing on and off.

Will leave all online banking etc. until tomorrow and continue doing nothing!

DH will sort kids dinner etc, so probably beans on toast/pesto pasta.

    Take care all!

    Good afternoon!

Big hugs to everyone. I don't know about you but it's been a fab sunny day here in the NW. I have been out into the garden and saw two robins on our feeder :) the very cheap snowdrops and crocuses that I bought last year are out too and the garden is looking pretty tidy still as I was a saint last autumn and actually put it to bed!

Tonight I am going to a craft workshop. It's only £15 (from my Christmas money) and I will be making an angel for my Christmas tree :)

    Today's list of things:
    • B/L/D from stores
    • Air house and let sunshine in - done
    • Heating off all day
    • Did have a small snack out as OH was getting grumpy ;) but all from allocated spends- done
    • Big reconciliation of the budget sheet,- done
    • Paid holiday cc spends off in full (we have a cc that gives perfect exchange rates)- done
    • Filed lots of new paperwork, mostly to do with new car- done
    • Bought huge chicken from the butchers. Roasted and portioned - it will do both of us for 5 meals!- done
    • Asda shop - stuck to list- done
    • OH KonMari'd his clothes (he does this regularly) - two sacks dropped into clothes bin- done
    • Quick nip into Matalan as OH needed black socks. I spotted a lovely top for only £4 (taken from personal spends)- done
    • OH found a bit of wood in the shed and made a temporary fix to the fence that came down.- done
    • I have cleared up the greenhouse- done
    • Brought seed trays inside to be washed in OH's used bath water :money:
    • Wash on and pegged out- done
    • General tidy up. Put away never ending washing pile
    Have a good evening folks!

Get well soon Chasingthewelshdream, have you had your Welsh exam yet?

This afternoon has been one of those 2 steps forward 3 steps back, so frustrating. I am ready for it to be the weekend to get off this treadmill for a couple of days and only one more week left in school before 1/2 term, the kids seem extra tired and grumpy at the minute too so they're definitely ready for it.
In the way of small things
    * we've been up on the conservatory roof (I see "we" I mean my dad!) to fix a bit that had blown off the roof in high winds back in December and stuck it back on using sealant - not sure how long it will last but I'm hoping that this repair will stop the little leak we have coming in.
    * I picked up my friends daughter from after school club as I was there picking up ds, she said she'll return the favour next week.
    * Sorted through a box of ds's cables/wires/leads etc and have got rid of several for things that they no longer own. Decluttering is good for my head!
** Messaged the council via facebook to find out who I need to contact rather then ring then and spend the day on hold!

    Evening all :)
Spendy day today - went to market in next town for fruit and veg, and did a supermarket shop. Also walked down town after lunch to buy fish from Icyland using mainly survey vouchers :) Also bought a gardening magazine, mainly because it included 6 packets of seeds that would have cost considerably more than the cost of the magazine.

Went to sales unit shop whilst in town, and was pleased to see that some items had sold, so need to get some more stuff down there tomorrow :)
Walked dog down to polling station this afternoon to vote in town council by-election - so lots of walking done today.
It has been a lovely day, but is chilly this evening, and I am sat here wrapped in a blanket because we didn't light the stove for some reason  Hot bath and bed soon I think!
  • Morning frugal pals :hello: it's nearly the weekend :j

    My list for today:
    Check banking, update sheet
Update food spends sheet, still looking much better than some points last year. Only a small shop required to see us through to the end of the month
Hot drink made with first kettle boil for commute later
    Reconciled just for points cc
Packed lunches x 3 with what we have. Although it will include a scone each as I made an emergency batch of dawns scones last night :D
Film and snuggles with the smalls later
Something out of freezer for tea
Post small fleabay item that sold if buyer pays

Have a good day everyone. Purps.
