  • hi scarlett if you dont mind me asking, how much did your partner spend on gambling. the reason i ask is that i am filling my form out now and it askes about gambling. and i have been on jackpot joy and bingo site etc. iv properly spent about £300 over the last 2 years.should i write that down

    any advice thanks
    Wins for 2013--£0
  • Jennie the OR is not interested in that sort of gambling. They are looking for major stuff that has contributed towards the BR, sums with three 0's at the very least.

  • Thanks tigerfeet :) Feeling less frantic about it his morning. It just felt like everything was ticking along quite nicely, then........ BAM.... the shock of it just floored me (almost literally :o ).

We'll call them tomorrow and see what's what. Surely if it IS correct and we do have to go then they'll tell us what it's all about? And yes, we'll be telling them we can't afford to make 2 trips over there...... we're bankrupt you know ;)

Jennie - Tigerfeet is right, the OR's not interesting in those sorts of amounts - we're talking many thousands here, a significant % of your debt.

Ok Madam Scarlett and Sir Potless

I hve just trawled through all 17 pages of you diary to find some sort of clue for this "face to face"

My theories could be totlly wrong but here goes.

    1. Page 5 you mention that you had been squirreling money away and that the OR would see that from bank statements.

    2. You took out a large loan in nov 2006 for consolidation puposes which was a bit close to your actual bc date.

    3. Gambling.

Don't get me wrong scarlett i am not knocking you, none of us are perfect:o .

I am wondering if they are going to apply for a BRU/BRO and need to see both of you to determine if you both get one or just Sir Potless

Also trustee's are usally appointed to look after IPA's (which do not apply to you) and houses in the form of assets.

Hope i am not worrying you more just thought it might help.

    Good morning Dalip :)

I really do appreciate you doing that, it was very helpful of you. And you may well have cracked it....... to address those points though:

    1. Money squirrel'd away around Nov-Dec 2007 was used for: moving costs (£500), bond on rented house (£820), few bits of furniture for new house (approx £300) and BR fees (£900 odd) so am hoping that the OR won't have too much of an issue about what we used that for...... but who knows eh?

    2. Good point. Yes, we did. Then H lost his job  We only managed a year of payments towards that loan.

    3. The most likely I reckon.

Oh don't worry, I know you're not knocking us, just trying to help and come up with reasons for this latest development :)

You mention 'trustees' - is that RTLU? :o Only Mamma Cas and her H have also been recently transferred to their RTLU and like us, they're in massive neg. equity in their old mortgaged house and no IPA there either.

Lol @ Madam Scarlett - it sounds like a !!!!!! Star's name :rotfl:

  • Dalip.

I honestly don't think it could be option 2 in all honesty. I consolidated all my debts (overdraft/credit card/loan) with the HSBC into a large consolidation loan at the banks "insistance" only a few months before bankruptcy - I had no problems with it as the OR merely wanted confirmation that there was no additional debt taken on and that it was simply consolidation. Unfunnily enough, he claimed that it was quite common for this to happen to a prospective bankrupt.

I honestly don't think Scarlett need worry here if no additional debt was taken on. Also 2 years ago is a rather long time.

I don't think the consolidation loan should be a worry either expecially if you made payments for a year. It shows when you took out that loan, you could repay it.

RTLU = Regional Trustee and Liquidator's Unit. It is just another dept of the service. Yes you are usually transferred over to them when the OR has finished investigating. The trustees deal with assets(houses, cars, rembrants and IPA's. I was transferred to mine in jan because of my IPA. I had a letter notifying me that my file was being transferred and any further corresspondance(sp) should be made to them not my OR.I really don't think it is anything sinister, just maybe tying up loose ends.

I have a feeling i have read somewhere that it is the OR that has to apply for the BRO/BRU,not the trustee..D
