In reply to your question Paul.carter, yes you can keep your old sky box, we had ours fitted free a few months ago now, and it's great, all they need to do is change something on the dish and add another cable so they will have to drill through the wall again, but other than that we didnt have any other phone wires etc. Im not sure about the multi room tho sorry! You wonder how you did without it!!!0

Hi All,
Now I feel like I am never happy!!... I have had the Sky+ installed, and the engineer has made a very ugly job of it... I didn't mind the extra hole in wall etc, and I wasn't expecting miracles... But the cable has been ran right up the front of the house (fair enough), and thrown over the roof!!!!... so its looped right from the front of the house, over the roof at the front, then right over the roof at the back - it looks like an extention cable is in temp use! its looks terrible... Am I being pedantic now? and expecting too much?, or am I right to think I could have expected more..?. My other sky cable - goes into a hole in the roof - thru the loft and out the other end. It wasn't until the guy had left that I realised what he had done on the outside the house..
I can't leave it like that - it honestly looks terrible.. So I either need to contact sky, or get someone else to fix it for me.
Any suggestions?, tell me if I am expecting too much?
Thank you.0 -
It is important to monitor and discuss the instalation throughout, they like to be as quick as possible and will cut corners. As for what the finished job looks like they couldn't give a monkeys. If you don't like something say so, be polite but firm, you are the customer.Blitzkreig Bob says Hi to those checking his validity!0

Just thought I'd share my experience in case it helps anyone! I was a Sky customer for 12months and really wanted Sky Plus for Xmas. Was gonna pay the full whack £179 for it, then read this post. Tried my luck the same night. I said I wanted to cancel cos I wasnt home enough to watch certain programmes and it worked like a charm. They offered my Sky Plus for £79 at first, said it was far too expensive, then £49. I accepted this and it has now been installed (this past Sunday) and I am VERY happy!!!
In hindsight, I wish I had held out for free and used the "its too close to xmas to be spending more money" line, but I have saved £130 compared to paying full price and installation, so, again, I am a very happy money saver! Thanks to all in this thread for your advice!!!!
As for the wire thing - I already had a hole from having "normal" Sky. He used the same hole - didnt drill another...... cables look great on outside of the house - I opted for white cable this time as its less noticeable in the lounge. This time the engineer insisted that I have a telephone line ALWAYS plugged in (havent had this for 12 months with other Sky) and, again, his wires look pretty good. Though I did watch him like a hawk. He even came back to finish the job off properly as he had run out of certain "pins". Looks great! I get the feeling it all boils down to the calibre of Sky Engineer that arrives at your house.....
This guy even left his mobile in case of any problems for the first 30 days....
Hope this info helps someone else:hello:My name is Steff and I am a Vegas Addict :j0
