Brilliant news, most people on here just tell you your legal rights they never allow for the goodwill of the manufacturer.

That may well be because this is a consumer rights forum.

It certainly is called that, but taking everything so literally is not helping people. So called goodwill solves so many consumer issues.

Consumer rights are written into legislation and are there in black and white.
Goodwill from the manufacturer or retailer may or may not exist and if there is something there, it can vary greatly from company to company so by suggesting trying to get goodwill may lead someone getting false hope and ending up very disappointed.

If a company does something out of goodwill then that's great but suggesting that someone pushes for a goodwill gesture isn't really something that a consumer rights forum should be for.

Obviously that’s your opinion. Just giving legal definitions doesn’t always get results, most reputable traders go far beyond legal rights.

Panic over, they have issued a refund today

My suggestion now would be to buy a kettle of a different make (unless you specifically need one like you had before to match other appliances you have).

If you get a white one again from one of the few sellers that still have stock of it and it fails again in the not too distant future, you might well end up in exactly the same situation but if you buy a different kettle from a range that only recently been released, you might have more chance of getting a replacement should you need one in the future.

Managers reason was because they lost my original appliance.
    Wahoo... One happy girly!

I'm still amazed people pay £150 for kettles, to be honest.

You'd be even more amazed then, that people pay £2,000 for kitchen taps!
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

This forum isnt for judgement on how people choose to spend their hard earned money. you choose to spend it on Butlins holidays to Skegness, they have chosen to spend it on a kettle. Its really horses for courses...

Who took the jam out of your doughnut?
  • People who thinks it’s okay to criticise people for what they spend on something...

Contrary to popular belief this is not the ‘only spend the bare minimum on everything’ forum. You chose to stick your neck out and criticise spending a large sum on a kettle. Why? Because you don’t personally see the value of that?
