Our mortgage have now exited the 140s and is is the 130s  :) our £210 overpayment for April should be hitting our mortgage account today but I think that's it for this month. Hoping to up our overpayments to £250 next month though :)

I've been looking on Rightmove at 4 bed houses. I'd love to have a 4 bed, 2 bathroom with a utility, but most around here are on the market for £200000 more than our house is worth and there is no way we can afford that. I think I just have to come to terms with the fact that this house is high as we're going to go on the property chain as much as I'd love a utility room and another bathroom  :D

Well done on mortgage progress. I have lost weeks to R'move. Sticking with what we have for now too

It’s a constant mind battle at ours with house moves. Do we stay and renovate or go through the hassle of moving.

I finally remembered to top up my regular savers today.... it's only taken me 10 days to remember  :D

My meal planning hasn't been going well as I've run out of inspiration of what to cook. I ended up googling recipes for inspiration whilst updating my shopping list. So far we've tried a chicken noodle dish which was meant to be chicken noodle and beansprouts except I forgot to add the beansprouts! I thought it was nice but DD refused to touch it and DS tried a bit and said he didn't like it. Tonight is a fish macaroni cheese pie. DH isn't keen on the idea of it but as he didn't help with the planning he can't complain. Fingers crossed both kids actually try it this time.

🤞 I have been the same with inspiration - and even less motivated when it's come to actually cooking the things I've planned to 🤦‍♀️ (although helped by the fact that there's nothing else to cook instead)! I only have to please myself though, so good luck with the family!

If you go onto Old Style MoneySaving thread and look at the grocery challenge they have links to loads of recipes on the first few pages.  They keep them there as standard so it doesn’t matter which month challenge you look at 🍲

Thanks for the suggestion Hetty, I'd forgotten that they list recipes on the grocery challenge. I used to try and take part in the challenge monthly but haven't recently. Maybe I should give it another go!

I am also guilty of planning a meal and then not wanting to cook it South_coast, usually as I don't fancy what I've planned or really can't be bothered to cook :(

The fish macaroni cheese was an unexpected winner with the family. This week we have a hello fresh box. Not very money saving but it does mean I haven't had to plan three meals and becauae of the cost I'm compelled to cook them  tonight was prawn and courgette pasta and as there were leftovers that's lunch tomorrow sorted as well :)

Our overpayment for May has gone out. So far in 2021 we've overpayed £1161 so if we're to make our overpayment target of £3500 this year we're going to have to start ramping up our overpayments. My DH has started a new job so he's had a payrise, but I think we're going to funnel the extra money into savings ready for buying a new car.

I've also topped up our regular savings so I think that's all the financial stuff done for the month. I'm setting myself a grocery challenge of £500 this month.

Anyway I hope everyone has a lovely bank holiday weekend. I'm off to the hairdressers today which I'm excited about, and then we're having a day out with friends tomorrow. Fingers crossed we have dry weather.
