Well I’m a very experienced teacher with extensive experience in SEND and I’m finding it difficult, so do NOT beat yourself up about it.It’s hard. Soooo hard. My honest thought is do what you can, but the priority is to keep everyone happy and healthy (including mental health).Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Kids are all so different, friends of my 5 year old and also my 3 year old daughter can sit for hours and colour or practise writing. My son prefers action and climbing and has since he was a baby. It's hard for them to sit still and I'm not worrying. He might not be top academically at this age but so many others will be the same and the fact that we care and try, probably means there will also be many more doing worse.

Becky, I hope you are ok? I just wanted to to say please don’t beat yourself up. Some kids are much more difficult to teach phonics and maths to than others. This is because they are good at other things and not because there is anything wrong with them or their parents. The difference between my DS and DD is just astonishing. DD is easy to teach; DS is not! He thinks in a totally different way and primary education doesn’t suit him at all. MrCM and I were exactly the same and we bother struggled at primary and early secondary school. At one point MrCM’s primary teachers thought he was deaf or had an intellectual disability. I couldn’t read until I was 8 and I still can’t do phonics at all (I am dyslexic).
I could easily post on the school group how fantastic DD is doing but I don’t because 1) I am not a massive show off 😂 and 2) I know it’s not because she is super smart or I am a great mum/teacher but it’s just because she likes to do colouring in and copying letters.2 -
I know exactly how u feel! Mine are 12, 9 & 6.... for the isolations my 12 year old was good at doing her work but this time she’s not really keeping up and she’s getting overwhelmed with the work with there being no end in sight. My 9 year old was the best for the first week but now even she has given up. The 6 years old doesn’t want to do anything at all he just hides from me.It’s so hard I’ve done 2 long days in a&e and now I’ve gotta spend the next 5 days battling with the kids to do their work. It’s deffo too much and can see the school work getting jibbed soon. I don’t know how they expect us to do our usual life and work responsibilities plus have the kids home and then do 90 peices of schoolwork a week 🙈🙈 ot could be the straw that breaks the camels back in this house.Sorry for the rant! It’s been a long day but I feel your pain xxMortgage started August 2020 £69,700

Thanks Cornish_mum and Ft dreaming. I hope everything is going ok for you Ft dreaming. Home schooling is hard for everyone but my heart really goes out to those who are home schooling on your days off and juggling working in a clinical setting.
January has ended up being much more spendy then I'd hoped mainly because we had to buy home schooling supplies. In fact we may have spent more than we earned...oops. February is a shorter month so hopefully we'll do better. I've just remembered that we won't have to pay council tax in February and March so some of that can go towards overpaying the mortgage and the rest will go on our home insurance renewal.

We've made an overpayment of £261 for Feb which was made up of our normal £210 overpayment and the £51 we would normally spend on the water bill. I am very tempted to pay what we would normally pay for council tax as an overpayment but I want to build up more of a slush fun in our current account and I think we need to start diverting more money towards saving for a new car. We currently have £3000 in our new car fund and DH is eyeing up second hand cars which cost £12000 so there's a bit of a short fall thereMortgage-free wannabe 2025 £571/30001

Don’t forget as well social media is the rose tinted view. Yeah parents will say how amazing their kids have done but that may always be the case. We home ed full time out of choice and we have days where I tear my hair out and the kids are upset. You are doing a great job xDFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)
