Thank you PB I will do my homework on it tonight - fingers crossed I can get another income stream going to really bash down these balances :)

    You're welcome! :)

Although given the fact that you have just broken up with your long-term partner, don't underestimate how important having space to yourself is, both physically and mentally. X

i'm not going to jump into anything - if I end up doing it I need to redecorate and get new furniture in there so its at least a 3 or 4 month project so time enough for me to think things thru.

new job is going well im settling into it and its starting to make a bit more sense - and I love coming home to a clean and tidy flat and being able to decide what I fancy for my dinner instead of having to think about anyone. I should have done this years ago - i'm starting to feel alive again - set my own schedule, stay up late if I want without having to justify myself and get home from work 10 minutes later than usual without having to explain where I have been. I should have done this years ago.... oh well no regrets. im going to make the most of my life now and part of that is getting free of this debt burden so I can start thinking ahead - positive head firmly on!

  • You sound so happy! Agree about holding off on a lodger for now - it can be a useful income source but relish that time with your own space. Later on, could you consider getting a student who would only be there term time?

Coming out of lurkdom to say a MASSIVE WELL DONE!! I've done what you did, gone it alone, and loved it - the freedom!! So much easier to keep track of finances when there is only you to consider and you certainly have the finances under control. Yours sounded such an awful, one sided, toxic relationship, that during my lurkdom I silently willed you to make the break AND YOU DID IT.

    So happy for you

doing ok - life is ticking over just fine at the new job and new regime of being able to please myself. got away with just £30 spend so far this month on groceries as im living out of supplies and what is in the freezer so its some funny combinations but im being creative and finding some new weird combinations that work well.

I've started on a fitness campaign as well - I used to be fit and healthy and a suitable weight for my height but a sedentary lifestyle and no exercise and a job where I barely leave my seat for hours at a time has seen me carrying an extra 3 stone over the years that I now want to lose for good. I'm not doing SW or WW or anything (done them all in the past and wont pay money just to be weighed and told that I have put on or lost) just being mindful with portions and making myself move more - I used to be a real exercise junkie so that part is easy to get back into. It's giving me something to concentrate on and hopefully by dropping some lb's I will find some extra energy and feel a bit better about myself self confidence wise.

all good in catandy world :D

Sorry if someone has already suggested this, Catandy, but I don't understand why you don't go bankrupt. You don't own your own house, and while the car might need to be swapped for a cheaper one surely that's better than struggling on for years and years.

I don't think that you work in the financial sector, and yes, you may well have an IPA for 3 years, but unless you can pay all the debt off in that time if I were in your position, I would certainly do it.

I hope I haven't spoken out of turn, I have nothing but admiration for you and just wanted to bring it up

You're doing amazingly, love reading your updates, so positive
