  • Sounds like an fantastic offer. Can somebody confirm what I'm thinking below is correct?

So I'm thinking of buying this as an Xmas gift for Mum and Dad. So I can join them up as a 'Gift Membership' as two separate applications and receive £40 back from Quidco. No letters will go to Mum and Dads so they have no idea what their getting until I tell them Xmas day? Am I right?
  • Just bumping this thread up as I need an answer so I can order in time for Xmas!

    Dan,
I bought it for my parents too. It gives you an option to say that it is for a gift and you can choose for the mailings to go to either your or the recipients address. I was able to put in their address but that all correspondance comes to me. A few days later I got DD confirmation through in the post. You should be ok to go ahead.

Can I ask how to go about cancelling the DD once it has been collected from my account? Does this deem the membership cancelled - someone earlier in the thread mentioned that you also need to inform National trust - I have bought a years membership for my parents and hope that they will take on the payment next year!!
  • Honey, many thanks for reassuring me! I would imagine that when renewal is due, your parents can call National Trust and give their bank details. Maybe someone in the know can fill us in on this?

When you applied did you do two separate transactions (ie entered site from quidco twice) or did you just enter two individual memberships? Did you get £40 cashback?

Thanks very much to the OP. Just done family membership, ours lapsed about a year ago, didn't renew as kids were fed up with looking at houses, but amazingly they were moaning last night that we haven't been to any NT properties recently! Shame the NT don't give any discounts when you renew though! Bargain price though, 12 months membership for price of 9, picnic rug (might just have to save that one!) and £20 cashback.

Will Quidco track and pay out for more than 1 transaction on this?
Many dollars can buy many peanuts!

I did do 2 seperate transactions, on advice of someone else on the forum. According to quidco 2 x £20 has been tracked. this is the first time I have ever used quidco though.

I have on-line banking and I can do mine on-line.
So the answer is on-line, automate phone banking or phone your bank and speak to a person.
    Obviously allow a little time.

In general cancelling a direct debit does not cancel a contract.
So for example if you took 12 months car insurance and cancelled the DD after 1 month, then you'd still be liable for the insurance payment and probably charges as well for a bounced payment.

When I bought a gift member ship it said something about it being "on-going" (sorry can't remeber which page it was but I definitely saw it) so to be on the safe side I would cancel with NT as well.

My £20 Quidco has gone from being declined back to validated so don't worry if yours shows as declined for a while, must have been about 4 weeks since it was declined, I joined in September.
  • We joined through Quidco earlier this year and got my £20 cash back last month. Didn't realise could've done it as two singles as it was cheaper to do a couple membership. Having said that we've been to some amazing places and really got our money's worth. Will renew next year even though it will be full price.
