I applied for this and filled it in as a gift for my Mum for her birthday. They sent her a lette saying my payment had been delined (even though there was plenty of money in the account  ), which led to lots of discussions with my parents about my finances as they're now convinced I don't have any money

Rather than phone them to sort it I re-applied through quidco, as I didnt want to risk them saying the transaction hadn't been completed wholly online ;) . They took the full payment, not the 3 months free as advertised on their website. I phones them and explained and they said you only get the free bit if you sign up to a continuing subscription, not just the 12 month membeship. I said this was not particularly clear on their site but they said there was nothing they could do

Both transactions tracked but they have since declined both, even though the second transaction went ahead. I have submitted an enquiry this week and will update when I hear something
    Mortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

Looks to me like your cheapest option is as follows: -

    2 adults @ £32.63
    1 young person @ £14.63

    Subtotal = £79.89

    Minus 3 x Quidco bonus £20

Total = £19.89 (plus you should also get 3 picnic blankets)

Make sure you do each as a separate transaction, closing the NT tab/window before going back to Quidco and following the NT link to reopen the NT form.

Thanks, I've just been looking at the numbers and that's what I came up with as the cheapest option also. Only problem is I am gambling that I get the £60 cashback.

I could just go for the family membership at £58.12 plus if I get the cashback it would be £38.12.

    So my options are:

    £79.89
    £58.12
    £38.12
    £19.89

If I were to join today do you get a choice as to when the membership starts as I would like to purchase it as a gift for Xmas?

    Thanks

I would write a scathing complaint stating that they should not reveal your confidential financial information to nay other person under the data protection act.
Ask them to review their policies and threaten then with reporting them to the information comissioner unless they come up with a good explanation.

I know they are a good charity but they still should behave properly wrt confidential info and not flout the law.

Here is a straight quote from the NT website on the Join Online page N.B. You have to select the annual membership and tick the gift checkbox first.
A temporary admission card will be available to print out on completion of purchase, which will allow you to visit National Trust properties straight away. Your official card(s) and new members pack will follow within 28 days. Please note: When purchasing a gift membership the new members pack will be delivered within 28 days if the requested start date is within one calendar month of the purchase, or 10-14 days prior to the requested start date of the membership in all other cases.

I've just been through the gift process and you can say when you want it to start (sorry can't remember all the options).

Note that if you choose the cheaper direct debit option then this is for an "ongoing" memebership.
You will need to cancel with the National Trust as well as the DD at the bank.
I'm not sure what the rules are for cancelling but as long as you give some notice you should be fine.

Cancelling a DD at the bank does not cancel a contract, it simply means you've blocked payment.
  • Hello

I am new at this game, what is quidco? I would love to buy the Nat Trust for my son this year.
