I was with Utility Point before moving to Symbio. Had no problems, although they went to the wire with the final refund. Only left because of uncompetitive renewal offer.
Think I’m going to give Symbio the benefit until the next bill, then review. After all at the end of the day/contract they are still cheapest, and I do understand their billing system, if not their estimating algorithm.

Are green. Dearer for you then molerat. They are slightjy cheaper for me on oak tariff. Even cheaper are neon reef but I'm no fan of utility point and they seem to be associated with them
    Green are £40 more

On the tariff I'm on with Symbio, there is an exit fee of £25. So I guess it's not easy to leave without suffering this charge.

I too have noted an almost doubling of their charges this month. I intend to email them, requesting them to revert the charge before they take it.

Last year. I was with Economy Energy, who went to the wall. We were ported by the regulator to Ovo who were quite expensive. It took almost 10 months to recover the monies from Economy Energy. Now it's looking like Symbio may be on a similar path.

I'm afraid that Green. are £70 a year more for me. Plus I've got a £25 exit fee from Symbio.

Think I'll stick with them for now.

Have you checked out neon reef Mister g. They seem to be a company set up by utility points directors. Same trading address. They also pay your exit fees as a credit to your account up to a maximum of £35

Thanks. Similarly priced to Symbio, but a variable tariff. Not sure I want to go down the variable route.

    Thanks anyway.

My January bill from Symbio is about £50 more than I'm likely to use, so will stay put for now and see what they do in February.

Thank you I have messaged them and asked them to fix my DD, I do have a small variance over winter, but not the amount they are charging and wanted a fixed monthly DD paying the same amount every month.

Edited to add - expensive DD now cancelled , just waiting on confirmation of agreed monthly DD and date that I agreed with them.

I received the new Direct Debit email this morning, for the fixed monthly payment set out when I started back in August. They plan on taking this payment on Friday 10 Jan.

I am guessing that for the next 3 months, I will be in debit around £10-£15 a month. I actually did not mind their method of "pay as you go" paying somewhat more in Winter and less in summer months.

Hopefully February will have no issues - time will tell. For now, they are best value for a FIXED rate.

It's the same with me, every penny extra adds £70 to my leccy bill so I'm happy to put up with a bit of grief to save some money.

When IRESA died and Octopuss took over it would have cost me an extra £210 a year, so I escaped to Eversmart but got out and went to Symbio just before Eversmart went down the tubes.

It's not really a big problem, just a bit of aggro but it really helps if you keep on top of it and do'nt just hope that they'll sort it out.

It becomes a bit of sport - fortunately I've got plenty of time to play and I've mellowed a bit nowadays :) so I dont get upset about it
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers

Me too. GB Energy, Iresa, Eversmart. Still waiting to pay the £150 to Eversmart that I owe them. One day perhaps!

Still waiting for notification of new DD, but they allowed me to move the DD date so may not get this for a couple of days.
