I gave my meter reading on the evening of the 31st Dec but still got a bill for 100% over my probable usage.0 -

You really could not make this up.
Hmmm, not sure about that. I have given readings on the last day of every month since August. They have always been used to calculate "variance units", which is good; but how they can estimate a January usage of 946 from a December actual of 527 is beyond me. It is nearly 1/6 of my annual estimate in just one month. Maybe they know something about my oil-fired central heating that I don't

My experience is that they do bill on meter readings, so any over or under estimation is resolved in the next billing period. For me, that's ideal - pay for what you use. No silly credit during summer or scary debit during winter.
I can cope with this month's stupidity, but appreciate many cannot. I hope they revert to sensible estimates for February, then everyone will be happy again.
In an ideal world they'd stop the silly estimating and just bill on usage - although I'd then lose out on the free kWh their broken billing algorithm is giving me each month.
However, I'm finding their incompetence and clumsiness quite entertaining and opening the bill email gives a glimmer of excitement wondering how much free electricity they're giving me that month.0 -
Yes it's only the current month estimate algorithm which is crocked. My experience is that they do bill on meter readings, so any over or under estimation is resolved in the next billing period. For me, that's ideal - pay for what you use. No silly credit during summer or scary debit during winter.
They made up some rubbish about
In my case at least the monthly estimates until November were simply Days-in-month / 365 x 6000 (EAC as provided by me in August). This gives a perfectly adequate result, some months a bit under, some a bit over.As we know that the consumption rates in winters and summers vary significantly, (which was not incorporated in our system) as a result the bills generated for the month of October and November were based on using spring/summer estimated meter reads as opposed to the much higher winter consumption's actual amounts.0 -
And October was a mild month, so they can hardly use that as an example as it would have been close to everyone's EAC.
I think i have sussed out Symbio's trick of making everybody pay at least double. So if we all input meter readings at half our usage then when Symbio double that it should be what we should pay for that month.
I use about 8 units of electric a day but Symbio reckon i will use 29 units a day for January.0 -
Lol just leave them. You don't need this hassle
Already had loads of correspondence from green.. Even though I only started the switch today
I even got my customer number and login which I didn't get until after my switchover with symbio0 -

I have always given mine on the very last day of the month. However in December I gave them meter readings on the 30th. They then decided to estimate the final day as 35.68 units when the most I use is between 10-14 units per day. Then they estimate my usage nearly 700 units for January when I only use max about 420.0 -
Ludicrous isn't it. Looking forward to being with a company who actually use my readings. No wonder symbio don't like smart meters. It would force them to bill accurately lol0

Give them meter readings on the 1st (if their estimate on the previous bill was to the 31st), then you'll start getting free units as they create a single day's estimate for that day. They estimated 45 units this month, for one day. That's almost half a week's electricity - free.0
