Then you presumably agreed to the latest terms and hopefully were informed "of your payment amounts and payment dates when we set up your account with us."

Perhaps you could enlighten us all as to what percentages month by month of the total annual usage Symbio apply to new account monthly payments? :)

Yes, I did. I was wondering why people were talking about downloading bills from their account. I thought the full bill gets emailed out to customers? Is this not the case?

My January bill suggests a usage of 100% above my own estimate.

Moreover, having changed to the Black Friday tariff, the amount I was overcharged (25%) in December has been refunded at a lower price.

    Not impressed.

    I give weekly readings.

My terms and conditions as per my email on 16th December and no email to say these terms have changed either:
3.3.6. Symbio Energy will invoice the customer
in advance on the basis of the estimated
    annual energy consumption of the
premises receiving the energy supply. The
amount taken on the first direct debit, will
vary depending on when in the month, the
switch to Symbio Energy has happened.
Thereafter, the customer will receive a bill
based upon the EAC or actual meter read.
The invoice amount will be deducted from
the monies held on account and an amount
equivalent to the estimated monthly usage
will be taken via direct debit. At the end of
the deemed contract, the customer will be
given a refund if Symbio Energy is holding
onto any credit balances or a final direct
debit amount will be taken to settle any
    outstanding invoices.

    3.17.
Your automatic monthly payment amount will
be based on the cost of the energy we think you’ll
use during a year with Symbio Energy split into 12
equal monthly payments. We will inform you of your
payment amounts and payment dates when we set
    up your account with us.

    Anyone heard of neon reef

    Unbelievably cheap.

Only one tariff and its variable

  • I've also had a ridiculous January bill.

I joined in Dec, and have submitted an opening read and a read at the end of the month. My daily usage has been 19kWh, with very little variation.

Their January bill is based upon an estimate of 1100kWh for the month (just over 35kWh per day), with a Direct Debit of £120.

As far as I am concerned, this is not about higher winter estimates, or weird accounting practices, but is about having an extra £60 per customer sat in their bank account rather than ours.

I'll be interested in seeing how their "variance" nonsense sorts this out in February, otherwise they'll be getting monthly credit balance refund demands from me.

9I think I'm leaving them. With their advance billing structure they can effectively charge me what they want going forward and reimburse it on next bill. This overestimation is a step too far. I think I'll leave now before im hit with an even bigger overestimation in February. This month's bill is already at least 15 pounds above what it should be. Ive never had a bill over £45 for leccy in my life. I'm heading to green. As I discovered neon reef is run by utility points directors. Read bad things about utility point

Same business address as Utility Point.

Yes I did a bit of research and saw two of the directors were also directors of utility point. A bit more research leads me to want to avoid that company. Bit odd also setting up a competing company isn't it??

Just had my bill. They have estimated approx 100 more units than I normally consume in January.

Got the same inflated January bill. Almost double my normal usage.

Phoned to complain and now my direct debit going forward, including the January one, is fixed at my EAC figure I gave them when I signed up.
