The situation is I will have paid Symbio up until 31 October and now Neon Reef want £87.00 to cover nearly the same period on the 11 October. Also there is a chance if I stop the DD for Symbio that is due to be taken on the 8 October they will block the switch.  Therefore I have decided not to do anything and see what happens. Thanks everyone who commented.
I'm not sure Symbio are in any position to block your switch, but obviously it's your choice.

With a referral code credit of £50.00 and 12 month fix with NR it is very competitive. So change of plan I have signed up for it.  Fingers crossed there will be no hitches. If I do lose my credit of £37.00 from Symbio at least I have made it up from Neon Reef credit. I am paying 17p per kw and 20p standing charge.

I was on a fixed deal with Symbio so would not be surprised if they go ahead and charge an exit fee of £30.00. However in my new suppliers terms and conditions the say this will be refunded up to £36.00.

I agree they don’t have a licence to trade lecky anymore! I understand they've moved their cash into crypto.

Perhaps not now, but I wouldn't rely on it: they blocked my switch on 21 September which was completely out of order.
Symbio have also sent me a bill for the period 01-10-21 - 31-10-21 despite my having made a one-off payment to clear the account; perhaps the carrier pigeons haven't yet reached Goa.
Just as well I cancelled the DD !

Today an email telling me that my DD debit payment has failed.  It was due on 1st October but I cancelled it just in time.  I am asked to contact Symbio rather than re-submit the payment by bank transfer; is that the normal response?

The same here. Not sure if its a normal reponse as I've never had to cancel my DD before for a bust company.

As my consumption has been significantly less than my payments, there's plenty of credit to pay my bill.

for some reason I havent had a bill generated yet so no DD requested either - however I am due to transfer to neon reef on the 7th so am wondering if they stop generating the monthly bill just before you transfer away

Yes, I think that was the case for me when I moved home and gave them my final readings. I got my final bill a week later

Also received the DD failed message. Just hanging on in there waiting for the OFGEM announcement about SOLR. As with @matelodave I have enough credit to cover energy charges up to end September and a couple more weeks, in case it takes a while to switch to the SOLR. I do not expect the SOLR to use Symbio's estimate for 31 October.

if thats what also happens in my case then its quite useful as it means I should not have any Symbio credit to chase with the SoLR

I would only have had a relatively small amount of credit to chase if they had auto billed me to the end of October like other customers

Going to be interesting to see if I manage to get a "quick" final bill from Symbio as its possible the SoLR will take over before my transfer date of the 7th which may prevent the final bill from being generated
