Anything due to or from Avro will be dealt with by Octopus.
You can kiss goodbye to any compensation due from Symbio.  For anything other than energy payments, which are protected by the OFGEM guarantee scheme, you are just another unsecured creditor and there are plenty of secured creditors ahead of you.
  • After reading some of the recent comments I am having second thoughts about leaving the DD in place. As someone has already commented their license has been revoked so they are not in a position to charge for electricity they cannot deliver.  Also I was £37.00 in credit for September so they should not be charging me a further £19.00 for October.

They advise the dd will be taken on 8 October so will see what happens in the next few days regarding a new supplier and when it expects to take over the supply. If its next week then I will certainly cancel the dd as the credit held is sufficient enough to pay for any outstanding electricity.

I gave last reading yesterday, received my system generated bill this afternoon at 3.47pm so seems they haven't adjusted that system yet. They are saying £11 and pennies will be collected on 8th October. I actually cancelled my DD last night and received confirmation of it from Symbio at 1.30pm.

I have almost £25 in credit going by my accounts which should cover me for all of October. Their estimated use for the next month is way over as usual (what I would use in March, not October lol), but at least this time it looks like they have taken some of my "hidden from balance" credit into consideration.

I would have normally left the DD in place but as this site and Ofgem says it's ok to cancel I did exactly that. I'll let it all work itself out until I get an actual final balance that I can agree on i.e. a refund currently due in my eyes.

I just calculated our symbio account is about £110 in debit, so I will allow them to take the £30 direct debit for this month before cancelling. Then will keep an eye on what the SOLR has the balance as and will ensure its accurate before balancing it up. Much prefer giving money to the new company than symbio at the moment.

I would urge everyone to calculate what their TRUE balance is, so that should things become a mess when the solr transfers the supply/balance at least you'll be on the ball as to what it should be.

I didn't bother submitting a meter reading and I won't bother looking at any fictitious bill. I'll happily accept whatever made up final reading the SOLR come up with, as long as it's not lower than the actual reading, then I'll ensure that my account reflects only the difference between my start and end readings plus daily standing charges rather than whatever Symbio's ridiculous 'bills' say.

I've been reading ofgem's SoLR guidance. Effectively we remain with Symbio until the SoLR is appointed, at which point Symbio's license to supply is revoked. I expect this will happen next week. I guess that means we owe Symbio for usage up to that date. In my case this is covered by overcharging in September.

Was going to leave my DD in place, but have cancelled. I just don't trust their competence.

A bit annoyed as I was 2 days away from being able to claim compensation from these.  GOOD RIDDANCE.  They over complicated everything and were downright dishonest.  To say they were the Ryanair of electricity supply is unfair on Ryanair.  Only positive I can say is they probably drove down prices accross the board.

Got my latest bill today. I’ve been with them since Feb this year and have never bothered giving updated readings. Latest bill shows I’m about £700 in debit although true figure is c£200 since they’ve massively overstated my EAC. Hence left the DD in place for time being.

I too wondered whether they would take the direct debit which was due today and sure enough they did.
Going off my own figures, on 30th September I was only 39 pence in credit, I'll need to pay for fuel going forward anyway so didn't mind that they did as it means I'm not starting "behind" with the SoLR supplier when they are finally announced.  Frankly the longer they take the better as any tariff the SoLR implement will be considerably more expensive.

It does however raise the question of the legality of an insolvent company still taking money, I can only assume as this is a process which ultimately ends with a new supplier rather than a hard "the end" in the event of a normal business becoming insolvent.
